It was. I remember when Gemmel scored, we were all jumping about and I looked across to our neighbours and so were they, then that Dutch **** went up and scored. Still, we beat them.Great game that.

No small feat in itself, they were a great sideIt was. I remember when Gemmel scored, we were all jumping about and I looked across to our neighbours and so were they, then that Dutch **** went up and scored. Still, we beat them.
I agree. I grew up in a Rugby League family, and was 9 years old at the time of the '66 World Cup. That was my first real experience of Football. In the Autumn of '66 I started going to Maine Road, so was well into Football by 1970. The romance of the World Cup 'abroad' was amazing to me, didn't care that England didn't win it, just loved the whole comp...Mexico 70.
That Brazil team was amazing.
Summed us up to a tee. Lost to Peru, who were totally underestimated, drew with Iran, our goal came from an OG, then when all seemed lost, we did what we do in a tight corner, we stood and fought. Had great players and took them on and defeated them.No small feat in itself, they were a great side
The 86 England kit was a beauty as well. Was 8yr old at the time, the 1st I remember and playing football down the park with my wrist bandaged during the tournament.
How selfish of him. Younger brothers, the cunts don’t know half of it. I’ve got two. It’s all me, me me.Our kid owned that shirt, unfortunately I was wearing it when I came off my Raleigh Burner. I broke my arm and the nurse had to take some scissors to it to get it off me. He wasn't fuckin happy!
