1966 for obvious reasons and 1978 as Argentina played some fantastic football to win it.

1982. I was an impressionable kid. The matches were all on at reasonable times and played in glorious Spanish sunshine. England were there, for the first time I could remember. There were classic matches I can still vividly recall now. I was mesmerised

Don't remember the 1970 WC and can't remember where I left my glasses half an hour ago but I can clearly remember throwing myself to the floor in despair as Muller swivelled for Germany's second! Given we weren't Dutch my poor mum was very confused why I was getting so upset!

Every kid who was into football, who wasn’t German, wanted Cruyff and the Dutch to win. Looked promising after the early penalty but, like you say, der bomber ruined it - what a great striker he was.

82 for me. A football mad 11 year rushing home from school each day to watch every game absolutely mesmerised by the Stars of Brazil, Argentina and Italy.
Remember keegan missing that free header to put England through against Spain like yesterday.

Was imenese, that Brazil side was awesome, the only player missing due to injury, was José Reinaldo de Lima known as Reinaldo or Rei (The King). Remember BBC2 World About Us doing a documentary on him a few months before that wold cup, guy was amazing.

For me this is the last Brazil side who epitomised jogo bonito, I vaguely remember crying and stunned that Italy beat them 3-2. It was how I wanted football to be played.

Many years later, me and a good friend tried and used some of the methods* to train and coach a Saturday team, we won everything over the 8 years we existed


*Along with studying Ajax, Renus Michels & Cryuff (we had and still have no coaching badges between us)
