I think whatever happened to the likely lads was much better than the black n white original. Both before my time but I've seen all of them many times and WHTTLL's was always the go to when being repeated in the 80s/90s. City and Colin Bell got a mention in some episodes :) Didn't watch the original series until many years later(early 2000s) and for me, the later ones are much better.Don't suppose the Major or Joan Sanderson are still around to add their talents to the new series ?
Have any of these updated comedy series ever been any good ? Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads might be one exception but as for the rest...
I can see it now. That long-lost daughter's going to have a grandson who realises he's non-binary or something, and there will be a whole episode about Basil Fawlty being outraged and flabbergasted about they/them pronouns. Then at one point he'll say something along the lines of, "Listen, don't call him, I mean 'they', by the wrong pronouns. I accidentally did it once but I think I got away with it!" Laughter ensues.
