FC United thread

They lost again !! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, say it aint so, please don't let the dream die,

Actually I am laughing my socks off.

My Darlo mates say only about 100 travelled.Very poor when you consider how many bought into this at the start.

Might get more interest if they start winning again next season but suspect most have jumped over to Salford.
Not convinced too many have gone to Salford. More likely gone crawling back to Uncle Malcolm's place again under the successful era of OGS.... 6th to 6th being the attraction and at least they know the owners at The Swamp are up front about fleecing the fans of their money....

Just doing my usual look at games coming up this weekend in the non league world. Salford 2nd in the conference (can they do 2 successive promotions and jump into the league?)
Chorley and County going for it in the conference north too. County are top having won 6-0 at Chester in midweek and i know they are not flavour of the month generally on here but i hope they come up.

Meanwhile at the bottom, it is possible for the Moston Rag Socks to get relegated on Saturday.
They are at home to play off hopefuls Kidderminster - but the game of the day is 4th bottom v 3rd bottom....
Guiseley v Ashton United.

A defeat for the Rag Socks and a Guiseley win means the Pallet Parkers will be 9 points adrift of Guiseley (and safety) with 3 games to go but their goal difference is so inferior that they will be relegated unless Guiseley collapse and lose their final 3 games with a 20 goal deficit - assuming of course the Rag Socks win their final 3 games!

I'd be happy with that but would be sad to see the town I was born in going down as without an Ashton win they're up shit creek.

Thanks for that - i'm also hoping Stockport go up. Not a big fan by any stretch but as i live in Stockport and have been to the odd game hear and there I dont hold anything against them. Them going up while miny rags go down would be a nice touch.

Ashton will be 7 points behind if they lose with 3 games left - but the goal difference effectively means 8 points behind.
An Ashton win puts them 1 behind Guiseley so will be a very tense game all round.

Yeah apparently Ashton have put on free coaches for the fans which at this level us fantastic.

How is the town of Ashton split in terms of Curzon and Town? Does support tend to be from which part if the town you are from or any past religious barings on the support?
Don't really know but Curzon have 'The Nash' as a nickname which I believe relates to a work side, when I was a kid they were always 1/2 leagues below United.

I lived closer to Curzon's old ground and as a youngster would go and watch one or the other if we were away or our reserves weren't playing. Always favoured Curzon as they wore blue & of course later Eric Nixon came from there to rival Barney Daniels as Ashton to City players.

After a quick web search I'm talking bollocks about them being a workside https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curzon_Ashton_F.C. they are however a baby club formed the year I was born.

Im off to Guiseley watching Darlington play there Easter Monday so make that 20 goal deficit in 2 games, believe me.

I saw Curzon beat Exeter in the FA Cup 1st round some years ago and there was a good crowd there that day. The only downside was the sight of Gordon Taylor, apparently a Curzon player back in the mists of time, rolling up in his big fuck off Jag and poncing about the place as if he was some sort of celebrity.

Gordon Taylor's from Ashton, went to Ashton Grammar. Surprised he knew the way back.

When I saw you’d written that Curzon's nickname is 'The Nash', my immediate thought was Curzo-Nash-ton, until I read the rest of the sentence.
