FC United thread

I have this dilemma which involves them I’m sad to say. I’m a bit of a ground hopper and I now have 3 grounds in Greater Manchester to complete… Curzon Ashton, Stalybridge Celtic and this lot. I can’t bring myself to sit/stand with these gimps and the idea of handing over my hard earned cash really rankles, would it be semi acceptable to go in the away end yet giving them cash, I’m kind of hoping that away fans would get the receipts from their end bearing in mind how right-on and ethical the ‘sussed and sorted’ adidas samba wearing ‘socialists’ at pallet park are but I somehow doubt this. It’s a quandary to put it mildly.
Here is a solution, no idea how old you are, but they are offering free tickets to watch a European game “under the lights’ for over 65’s or younger fans.
If you can get in for free and of course don’t buy any food / drink and swerve the line of buckets being thrust in your direction, at least you can tick the place off your list but with a clear conscience.

I’ll make sure I give myself a good scrub afterwards and wear my scruffiest clothes which I can chuck away afterwards.

If you hang on a little longer, they'll go bust so it won't matter. It would be erased from your list if you went and they later folded.

Become reasonably good at football, get on the team of a side in the NPL, then ensure you’re in the squad when they play there. It might not be much, but you’ll actually get paid to be there and you can gouge up the pitch and block the toilet in the dressing room too. Easy.

Go to some end of season local league final there.

Little or no money to fcum.

Well the latest hissy fits from the clowns over at Pallet Park…Some of their fans think they should lobby the authorities and get the rules of football changed worldwide as Hyde ruined the game by winning the toss and getting them to switch ends for kick off.

The board have fallen out with some of their Communications volunteers as they haven’t promoted the missing matches bucket shake enough, despite raising over £22 grand in donations & having 6 home games between Boxing Day and the 1st of February they only just managed to scrape together January’s wages at the end of the month.

Those communications volunteers haven’t been quick enough, now the deluded board & manager tell them to push out a message and rattle the buckets they must now send out a message across at least ten different platforms within twelve hours despite all having actual jobs & lives to get on with

Exactly, They're pulled in crowds totalling 9,000 for those six games in aggregate, so how the fuck are they still in such a mess? Something just isn't right there are sooner or later the rank-and-file will realise that they should be holding the board to account properly.

As for @philiph20 and his dilemma, if he simply has to visit the ground and there's no requirement to actually see a home fixture of the club that owns the ground, the suggestion in the post immediately above this one of watching some community fixture there seems to be the best solution. These fuckers seem to have an ability to hang onto survival like a cockroach in a nuclear holocaust, so waiting for them to go bust may take a while. Anyway, whenever you go and whatever you see there, make sure to take an antiseptic bath afterwards.

Which are the grounds you've ticked off?

The farewell game when they are finally wound up would be great, we live in hope.

Well if they have 700 season ticket holders (I have no idea how many they have I’m using that figure as an example) that is 4,200 off the 9000 as their season ticket money was spunked to keep the club afloat over the summer.
So that leave 4,800 paying to get in, which include kids and OAP rates too.

Yes, I suppose so, But they're competing at that level against teams with tiny gates. They're in one of four regionalised divisions that have the status of Step 3 and, if you look at the figures from last season for Step 3 gates, you'll see that literally half of the 88 teams in England at that level couldn't even reach an average attendance of 500.

IMO, if they were competently run, they could easily put out a competitive side at that level and pay back monies to the Council. Absolutely scandalous they aren't being made to do repay what they owe.
