Weak signal and almost no life left.

All jokes apart, they have been punching above their weight for their four seasons in the Conference North.
A good number of sides in that division are full time and paying transfer fees and wages the Rag Socks simply can't afford. Thanks to the financial mess left behind from the previous management as well as the stadium still crippling the club (wonder if they wished they had stayed at Gigg Lane...) they had the lowest budget to work from in the league. No surprise they struggled from the first game onwards. It is to their credit they 'only' got relegated with one game to go.

It won't be easy next season either - they will still be held back with a limited budget, still far less than many others in that league and with a mass clear out on the cards, having to pick up players they can afford that are prepared to play for less than they would get at many other clubs (assuming the opportunity arose and the players have a choice).

What hindered them this season was having a fair few contracted players on a guarenteed weekly wage who were not playing (injured or simply not good enough / not wanted by the new manager) which restricted the new manager as to who he could afford to bring in as a replacement (either permanent or on loan) which meant bringing players in from lower leagues who clearly were out of their depth in the Conference North, along with a couple of youth players from higher leagues who lacked experience but brought enthusiasm along with them.

On top of that there will most likely be a reduced home crowd next season (unless a serious promotion push is taking place) and most likely a significant reduction in away crowds too (Stockport / Altrincham / Chorley to name a few bringing a decent number, as did Blyth today) all hitting finances. Yes Hyde, Stalybridge and Ashton United will bring a few, but not on the level the Conference North visiting fans brought with them. It is hoped early season ticket sales will keep the cash flow going between now and July when pre-season games kick in and money drifts back in - but will it be enough to survive the summer and beyond? Will enough fans stump up the cash up front to keep the club afloat? It is their football club, if they still want it then they need to act accordingly and re-new their season ticket ASAP.

Personally I think it would be better for the club to stay in this new league for a few seasons to stabilise and take stock. Yes I get you can't plan for that as promotion or relegation can come easily with a great run / bad run. But investing in a new team on players from that league or below and going straight back up leaves them having to risk starting the following season with the same players or having to buy new players with the experience of the Conference North that they can afford.... they could end up a yo-yo club. They need to take a breather and learn to treadwater in choppy waters and get financial stability back, which is a catch 22.... staying down = smaller gates = reduced revenue = reduced playing budget = less quality players = lack of success on the pitch = smaller gates and so on....
Oh to be an owner of a football club, eh! There are some genuine fans (yes, yes, I know some of you will say ''They are rags so fuck 'em'') trying to save the club, working hard for no financial reward, who have sunk a fair amount of their own time and money into the club that they wont get back. They have learned some harsh lessons over their journey and I fear they may yet have to face a few more over the coming months / year / years.

Has someone hacked MES' account? Who was the real poster of this sentimental bollocks? Can someone stateside please do the honorable thing and check on MES? He's either been kidnapped or gone dofuckinglally. Fuck FC United and the red bandwagon they rolled in (and out) on.
