FC United Thread

"The singing, including some golden oldies which date many fans as Stretford End and United Road veterans of the 1970s and 80s, have a joy, as well as defiance, about them. The banners – Making Friends Not Millionaires, said one; Pies not Prawns, said another – have a laugh, too. There is a tangible relish among FCUM fans about being free from the features of modern football which got them down, even as their own club was cleaning up."

David Conn -The Guardian - 26 October 2010

Time for a 14 years on update please David.
This is exactly what I dont get about them. Why would they want to be identified as former OT regulars when they allegedly broke away from big united. It would be more defiant to create their own identity and distancing themselves from what they apparently left.

Now that is funny. We take their best player and put him behind a desk.

Oh my aching sides.
Sort of like it.
Paid nothing ( I hope)
Damages them? (Good)
He was a great lower league goal scorer… let’s hope he can spot 2/3 for us

They did have some different and unique songs at first.
A family member played against them when they started out.
Although they were a pompous, arrogant support, some of their chants were fairly funny.
But, as more thugs started attending, they started chanting about the big clubs e.g. City, Liverpool, Leeds.
Haven't seen them play for ages, so not sure what they sing about now...

It’s the Sheryl Gascoigne syndrome.
If she had changed her name back to whatever it was before she married Gazza, she’d have become an irrelevance overnight with no media interest either.
They need the rags and to trade off the back of the rags to keep media interest in them to make them appear relevant

The report I read yesterday said that he's going to continue playing for them while working for us. I personaly would make it a condition of employing him that he should retire, but then I wouldn't have loaned those twats a goalkeeper last seqason, either. MCFC regrettably seem to take a different approach in dealings with the tribute act shysters.

Very good analogy.

Jammy twats with a 92nd minute equaliser today.
Still 2nd bottom but played 3 games more than Gainsborough on the same points.
Matlock above them though, have played 3 more than the Rag Socks and are 3 points above them.

Great news that Blyth Spartans (the only team below the splitters) have now become a community -owned club.
They had to postpone a couple of games, but have recruited an ex-manager and they hopefully will quickly improve.
One of their postponed matches was against FSCUM, saw a good game for them to win...

suffering off the pitch too. Their latest financial reports shows that in September they forecast a profit of £4.2k but they actually lost £18.9k in the month despite selling their best player to Macclesfield, donations being £3k more than budgeted for, their women’s team winning £3k which wasn’t budgeted for & they rented out the ground for the lantern festival.

For the first 3 months of the financial year they made a profit of £14.9k but expected to make a profit of £28.2k so the profit is around 50% less than expected, crucially though it’s on a massive downwards trend with key commercial staff having left, board reports saying they have very little business bookings lined up for the festive period & the women got knocked out of the cup so they can’t expect anymore unexpected windfalls there.

The muppets over on their forum hang on every word posted here. Perhaps they should stop worrying about what we’re saying, who I am & actually wake up & question their board & committee members, it’s a cult of personality & the lunatics are running their business to the ground, wouldn’t care if it wasn’t for so much tax payers money going down the pan with them
