FC United Thread

Average crowd, same as every other NPL team this weekend. Nobody got more because of the international break. Ashton Utd had 360 there...

There’s a difference though isn’t there. Ashton united didn’t write the most detailed business plan ever and give it to the council to justify their loans. I’m guessing Ashton united weren’t stupid enough to assume promotion at the end of this year in their financial planning, I bet Ashton united didn’t budget for an extra 1,000 fans (now reduced to an extra 500) I bet Ashton united didn’t budget for 120 students in their academy in year 1 of the business plan rising to 160 this year, but actually are still struggling to recruit around 50.

Are ashton united struggling to keep any senior member of staff for over 12 months? Are Ashton united currently having to run different donation schemes to plaster over the holes in their finances? fund the foundations to pay off the debt? missing matches fund to make up for matches missed (postponed not actually missing completely) and fund le fondre to make up for the extra £15,000 that their board decided to spunk on a journeyman striker. Ashton united aren’t moaning that not enough people bought this years 3 new kits, or donated enough on top of the season ticket.

I don’t think Ashton united have hoodwinked the council into lending them so much of our money which they had no means of paying back based on such clearly ridiculous plans that you bunch of yes men all voted through. Because of all that and more I don’t think Ashton united are a relevant comparison

Ashton united also arent fucking mental enough to be constantly bleating about having no money, rattling buckets for whatever today’s crisis or shortfall is & then decide it’s a good idea to go and play in a tinpot European tournament in Prague next week.

FC are the club who’ve got their priorities that wrong that they don’t spend the £20 grand that was donated specifically to pay off the debts on paying off the debts due to Novembers anticipated cash flow crisis. Then decided to pay for their squad to fly to Prague in November. Their fans will drone on about the fenix cup but it’s a shambles, an invitation only friendly cup that several teams have already dropped out of this year. Their media team go on about big European nights under the lights. When actually they play piss poor opposition in grounds that wouldn’t be fit for leagues far below them over here. The latest victims of FC united’s massive European success are Prague raptors, a team who play in a league based solely in Prague & don’t charge admission to get in.

Crowd of 1.711 there with no PL games / Big Red games and no freebie tickets.
No idea how many Workington fans were there but either way another poor crowd given those circumstances.
Maybe The Sheriff of Lightbowne Road can enlighten us further?
Probably the highest crowds at that level other than a couple of clubs that have crashed and burned such as Macc and Bury. Their beloved rags (like lots of clubs) used to buy success, so why can't the splitters?

Because they haven’t got any money to buy anything, let alone success

The problem is their house of cards has been built upon borrowing money and expecting a lot more income to pay it off.

Fenix Trophy divides opinion. Travel is subsidised heavily by the competition and it's sponsors. Accommodation is then paid for by the host club. Prague are Division 4/5 in Czech. They're higher than us. No need to be so blatant with your ignorance towards other countries footballing structures.

I was thinking simply in terms of their gate receipts being significantly higher than most teams in the same division.
