I suspect Ashton United are getting the same gates they averaged the past 3 / 5 / 7 years etc ago.
While the crowds at Pallet Park are still among the highest in the league, they are considerably lower than 3 / 5 / 7 years ago which, for your good self and fellow co-owners should be a worrying trend.

Same as us. Been 1700 for the last 5 seasons. Footballwebpages can be your friend here. Was about 2000 in the NLN. Get a few more in plus you play bigger teams with a bigger following.

There’s a difference though isn’t there. Ashton united didn’t write the most detailed business plan ever and give it to the council to justify their loans. I’m guessing Ashton united weren’t stupid enough to assume promotion at the end of this year in their financial planning, I bet Ashton united didn’t budget for an extra 1,000 fans (now reduced to an extra 500) I bet Ashton united didn’t budget for 120 students in their academy in year 1 of the business plan rising to 160 this year, but actually are still struggling to recruit around 50.

Are ashton united struggling to keep any senior member of staff for over 12 months? Are Ashton united currently having to run different donation schemes to plaster over the holes in their finances? fund the foundations to pay off the debt? missing matches fund to make up for matches missed (postponed not actually missing completely) and fund le fondre to make up for the extra £15,000 that their board decided to spunk on a journeyman striker. Ashton united aren’t moaning that not enough people bought this years 3 new kits, or donated enough on top of the season ticket.

I don’t think Ashton united have hoodwinked the council into lending them so much of our money which they had no means of paying back based on such clearly ridiculous plans that you bunch of yes men all voted through. Because of all that and more I don’t think Ashton united are a relevant comparison

No. However, when Curzon Ashton got their free 4500 capacity stadium off Tameside council (when they get about 300 fans) and free 3G pitch, you do wonder if the same standards applied there. Tameside being a very wealthy area of course...Bury this season have received a new 3G pitch, paid for by Bury Council at a cost of £750,000 to the tax payer including the level up fund - £450,000 of that coming from Bury Council. Chadderton 2 years ago were struggling to make ends meet, have just had a £1m 3G pitch installed, even though Avro which is a great facility is about 2 miles away. Chadderton got a grant for theirs. Free money. So to say FC United are the only club "taking money" from the taxpayer at this level of football is just absolutely miles off. Usually 3G pitches end up being cost neutral as well over their 10 year lifespan, so by the time it's paid off, you're back asking the council to pay to replace it for you, and then you pay it back monthly. So in 10 years time when Chaddy need £1-1.5m from Oldham council make sure you start the thread for it.

The difference with all of these council payments you mention is that the council's are investing something in their communities.... a 3G pitch here and another one there. It's a place for folk or teams to be able to meet.up and train / keep fit, maybe schools.too, in all weathers.
What Manchester city council did was stump up a million quid simply to keep the club afloat. Where is the "community benefit" in that?

you mean the same stadium that when it was built Curzon handed over their National Park ground to the council so they could flog the land to developers to build housing on it?

you forgot to point out that FC also had a grant funded 3G pitch almost 9 years ago. One of the conditions of the grants was that they create a sinking fund to replace it after 10 years. Your board agreed to put £50,000 aside a year, you’ve never managed to put anything aside for it have you: you make money on it by renting it out to barrow & other football teams, when it’s not being used if any local kids try to use it you call the police on them, you renamed it the broadhurst park centre of excellence this year to make it clear that it was not a facility for the local kids to use, even when it was empty & at the same time spout on about being a community club.

FC sell out their 3000 allocation in the away end.

Match day.

As both sets of fans are wearing red and white colours, it’s hard to tell them apart. As well as both sets of United fans singing anti-City songs.

The match starts.

United score! What do the 3000 FC (United fans) do in the away end? Stay quiet and smile or celebrate?

FC score from a corner. Do the FC fans go mental, knowing they are celebrating a goal against United, which will fuck the United fans off? (“Who the fuck do you support!”)
