Well that's one positive outcome of the government's spending cuts lol.
What I never got with all this is why the council were going to help them out in the first place when there are other, far longer established non-league clubs in the local area that have to stand on their own two feet. FC Scum are a club that have sprung up out of nowhere and had the cheek to take the begging bowl to MCC to help fund their new stadium. Obviously they were using the "community" aspect to help plead their case but for me they were only ever in it for themselves.
They've got this warped view that they're martyrs for those that are against all the bad things in modern football but their argument falls down on so many fronts it's untrue.
Against matches that have their kick-off times changed for live television yet as soon as ESPN offered them a decent wedge to show their FA Cup game they took the money. They try to excuse it by saying that they put it to a supporter vote so why vote in favour of it when they all claim to be against it?
Against all the commercialisation in the game today. Hold on - they've just come from supporting the most commercialised football club in the world for the past God knows how many decades. So on the one hand, they were happy to partake in all that for years and years but on the other they've always been against it. Weird.
