Walk out of the far end, rather than near the taxis. Stay next to the tram line. Walk straight up the street, through Shudehill Interchange, then cross the road beyond the tram stop. It's right in front of you. :-)

I've never, ever in my life failed to find a pub within a short space of time of looking for it or asking where it is and I've been to plenty more than most.
