Feelings towards the current side

Maybe because everything is going wrong and we are doomed?

Seriously I don't think it's that bad but we are SO far behind where we were in 2017/18 and 18/19, it's just not funny. The 17/18 side would rip us to pieces.

So would the Mancini and Pellers league winners, our front 6 look awful. Only Gabby and KDB gave me any hope with actually trying to be creative and have some forward energy. mahrez and Sterling oh my god.

I feel we've changed our set up to adapt to how the season is currently. The high octane, high energy press and attack we normally have won't last this season. The players will burn out by January if we kept that up, also I don't think we have the squad capable of playing that way just yet. Instead we've become a defensive side at the moment. But we are still in the title race despite the doom & gloom that's around every time we don't win a game.

Defensively we have fixed that, so the defence isn't a worry anymore, which is a credit to Dias, Stones etc.

It's the attack that's the concern. Jesus works his ass off, but he's not getting into dangerous positions. And when he does his touch fails him or he tries to much. Sterling doesn't look like himself or he isn't getting into the right positions, Mahrez is hit & miss, always will be, Bernardo and Foden aren't getting used enough I feel to get goals and the best out of them. Without one of those two next to Kev, to much is left to Kev to do. Torres looks a player but is young and needs time to develop.

I'm more interested in where we sit at the end of December then I'll judge properly. I'm not overly excited, nor am I to disappointed so far this season.

A 6/10 for me so far, but the defence being fixed was the biggest issue coming into the season, the goals will come if we keep keeping clean sheets and be solid at the back.
This ^^

i have found us boring to watch for some time now.

Basically, in the opening 3 league games of the season (Wolves, Leicester, Leeds) we pressed brilliantly and looked genuinely fantastic. We looked as good as we did we won the title. Particularly against Wolves and Leeds.

Then after 20-30 minutes we just stopped, and spent the next 60-70 minutes looking majorly ragged and all over the place.

I think there was another game recently in the CL where we had the same issue, but the opposition weren't good enough to really do anything about it (Olympiakos away maybe?)

The fact is we can't press as well as we can. Or we'll drop off like flies and risk another Leicester like performance.

COVID, no preseason, lots of games thick and fast, it all adds up. Everyone suffers, but other teams don't rely on the press as much as we do. Only Liverpool do, and they've not exactly done too brilliantly themselves compared to last season (although they're doing well).

The fact that we CAN'T press is something that very few people on here even realise or are willing to acknowledge. Everything about our play this season can be linked to this.

All of this then leads to your points, which is something I agree Pep is very mindful of. There's a real chance this could pay dividends in the 2nd half of the season as long as we're not too far off of the pace by then.

Absolutely hate the inverted wingers tactic. Mahrez is shite, and Sterling is not half the player on the left. Way too predictable, one-footed and for some reason can’t dribble a traffic cone on the left side. I reckon Torres could work on the left, but that’s because he’s more two footed, direct and unpredictable. Sterling should 100% play on the right side.

We don’t have the hunger and confidence we had a couple seasons ago. Too few seem to care

That was a poor game today no question about it.

Just read Neville's comments and I cant argue with any of it.

Caught kev during the game throwing his hands up in frustration at one move when it fizzled out - he is getting frustrated just as us fans are.

We know we are starting to become a Pep mark 2 team, but this will be a totally new generation of players after the players that brought us out the dark times have all departed bar Aguero

We witnessed the talent that those players brought, we are now witnessing just how badly we miss them now.

Somethings been off since the last title win as our form has basically nose dived off a cliff

WTF is that about?

The *Manchester derby* in 2020.

They have both been through a lot of personal shit recently (admittedly mostly self-inflicted) and are old pals in the England team. Tonight they were both the best players on the field. I don't have a problem with a bit of sportsmanship.
Roy Keane didn't like it. But he's the twat who ruined the career of one of our players in a Derby match with a vicious assault so who cares what he thinks.

People have different outcomes on this, Personally I've played against close friends in football matches and wouldn't see them as a mate during the game or after a handshake at most, That tonight after the game I thought was pathetic. But that's modern day football unfortunately so we may get used to it. They are all kissing and hugging getting 200k whilst we are at home on minimum wage getting wound up.
