Pleads not guilty and misses....Arsenal(a), Pompey(h), Villa(a) and Everton(a).
It depends where their priority lies. Stopping City getting to Wembley, or maintaining a challenge in the Prem against Chelsea. Looking at those games and their dodgy defence at the moment I`d want him available for Villa and Everton away. Otherwise Chelsea will be over the hills and far away in a months time.
Hopefully, lets expect to face Orange and Evans.

worse than that for them mate......... not guilty will see him miss Arsenal(A), pomp(H), villa(A), milan(A), all in all........ a very good day indeed. He'll plead guilty tomorrow, i'd put my shirt on it. This is the glimmer i've been waiting for, because with him they are undoubtedly more comfortable at the back....... we'll now score the goals needed. (O:

Re: Ferdinand Could/Will Miss the Semi.....

You know what? It doesn't matter. The cheating smackhead's unfit and overrated. Bellamy absolutely destroyed him in September. Whether it's him, Vidic, Evans or baked bean head Brown we can and will score goals! Come on CITY!!! (got a bit carried away there)

Here's the official wording:

(ii) The Reply
The Player is required to respond to the Charge in writing by 6pm on the first working
day following receipt of the Charge. In the absence of a Reply, the matter will be dealt with
directly at the next available Regulatory Commission, and submissions from the Player
may not be admitted.
The Player may accept the Charge and penalty offered or deny the Charge. In the
event that the offered punishment is accepted, the suspension will commence
forthwith
upon receipt by The Association of the consent of the chairman of the
Judicial Panel (or his nominee).

Definition of forthwith: at once; immediately.
So if he doesn't reply the matter will be dealt with at the next Regulatory Commission. Presumably that will be after our game? If it is, then if I were in their shoes, I'd choose not to reply

Not sure he would have played Rio as the game will be very intense and demanding, and he has only just returned, and they play an important game at the weekend. I'm not bothered if he plays. I suppose the less options Ferguson has the better

Ferdinand on FA charge(PA) Tuesday 26 January 2010

Sir Alex Ferguson's League Cup plans have been thrown into chaos after Rio Ferdinand was hit with a Football Association charge that could rule him out of tomorrow night's semi-final decider with Manchester City.

Although Ferdinand has until 6.00pm GMT tomorrow to either accept a three-match ban or contest the violent conduct allegation at a disciplinary hearing on Thursday, the decision will have to be made far earlier.

Ferguson had already outlined what a huge impact the 31-year-old had made on his return to the Manchester United line-up after a three-month absence with a back injury.

Now he knows, if Ferdinand accepts his punishment for what was clearly an arm swung into Craig Fagan's face during the second half of Saturday's 4-0 hammering of Hull, the England defender will immediately be back on the sidelines.

In considering the decision, Ferguson will also be aware, should United lodge what the FA disciplinary panel deem to be a "frivolous" appeal - purely so Ferdinand can face City - they risk the defender being handed an extended ban.

If Ferdinand does miss out tomorrow - and also the matches against Arsenal and Portsmouth that follow - it would leave Ferguson relying on Jonny Evans and Wes Brown once more in the heart of his defence, and also either Rafael Da Silva or Gary Neville at right-back.

Re: Ferdinand Could/Will Miss the Semi.....

From The Guardian:

The FA have confirmed that if Ferdinand does plead guilty, the first game of an automatic three-match ban will be the Carling Cup tie against Manchester City.

Re: Ferdinand Could/Will Miss the Semi.....

Very interesting this. I have not seen the incident so dont know how cut and dry it is. However they have been giving out bans if decisions have been appealed with little chance of success and it will be clear they are doing it so he can play tommorow.

But this is scum they make the rules up as they are going along so I expect him to play and get away without an extra ban.

Its risky though would show that Taggart wants to stop us win anything more than winning the title which is interesting to say the least.

Re: Ferdinand Charged

I am surprised they have even charged him to be honest.

This was pretty much the same as when Vidic punched Rodellega (sp) and the footage of it is about the same quality yet they did nothing to Vidic.

MAkes me think they dislike Wobbly-Gob for the whole drugs thing. I never thought he would get charged for this (totally thought he should, but totally thought Vidic should too and look what happened)

I don't care if he plays or not, either ways a winner.
