Just read an article in the Sunday Times about this guy. Foul mouthed bully doesn't begin to describe this obnoxious man. He managed players who in his day had no power...nowadays he wouldn't last ten seconds in a dressing room full of money rich individuals and their agents. Hope he's enjoying his legacy.

He was the last — and probably the greatest — of a certain type of football manager. I remember reading about Bill Nicholson at Spurs. It was basically like being in the army, under a kindly but severe colonel. Clough's relation to his players was entirely paternal, with everything that that entails, good and bad. And if you read about Busby in the fifties and sixties the players were simply in awe of him. That just wouldn't wash today.
Ferguson was a bully, and a deeply unpleasant individual, but he wasn't only that.

Greatest British Manager. His legacy is secure: umpteen league titles, European Cup winner and smashed the Glasgow duopoly in Scotland. Loud mouthed bully? Yep. But I’d have loved half the trophies he won to be resting in our cabinet.

We still have time to win half the trophies he won ..

We have something to thank him for.
Yes, he put us through misery for 25 years while winning everything ... but he also ran Utd down toward the end, didn't prepare any kind of succession, recommended Moyes, got irrationally bitter toward City during our resurgence, hangs around in the background scowling at successive managers' failings, etc.

Through his ego & arrogance, he's partly responsible for where Utd find themselves now.

This - but not partly he is absolutely holds responsibility - he was happy to have the Glazers take over - he was happy to take their cash - his meddling in the world of race horse breeding led to them taking over and his last effort - win one final league at any cost to the club knocked the first brick out of the soldier course that was the rags - that wall has gradually fallen down since he left. He managed and behaved in the manner that successful managers did at the start - by the time he stepped down things had already moved away from him but I bet he remains like an annoying uncle who tells you when he was at work things were so much better with no protection and bad management

Nope, he is also a bent money grabbing piss head.

Of all the theories and excuses that have been spoken over the last 24 hours about United’s woes, the one name that I haven’t heard mentioned is Ferguson’s.

He’s still on the payroll, I think I’ve read somewhere that he still has his own office and is a regular in the dressing room.

I personally don’t think United will ever begin to come out from under his shadow until someone has the bottle to tell him… Thanks for everything but now it’s time to fuck off and stop being a constant presence breathing down the neck of every new manager.

Hopefully it won’t happen any time soon. I’m actually surprised that Mourinho stood for it.

Horrible twat, I am just glad he has to sit & watch us play beautiful winning football while at the same time he watches the rags go to shit over a painfully long time.

I don't think he's arsed. He only cares about his family and how much money he can get them.

I was thinking just the other day when Klopp was making excuses, that he's still infinitely preferable to the time when it was Ferguson and Wenger, sucking the joy from football with their constant sour complaints.

Years of those miserable fuckers, and who did we get to break up that duopoly of old, angry gits, but Jose Mourinho!

I know Pep can be sarcastic and prickly, and Klopp is a poor loser, but they both have an enthusiasm for football that was missing during those years.
