Fergusons Book (Merged)

Selective amnesia, GDM.

Snow really went for him there. He was starting to lose it after the comments about his falling outs with numerous players, the business activities of his son and the Glazers being "rampant capatalists". I have a feeling someone whispered in JS ear to tone it down towards the end.

Shame Aguero 93:20 didn't get a mention, that might have tipped him over the edge

Finally, after 26 years, a journalist asking the questions that none of his spineless, shithouse colleagues dared to.

Too little, too late but well done Jon Snow anyway. I feel Taggart's handling of the questions was poor btw. He didn't answer many of them especially at the beginning and really struggled with the more meaty ones later on. Not used to it, I imagine.

He looked really lost for words. About time. if he was still united manager Snow would of got banned!

why does he need to even release a book? all this bollocks about "telling the fans the truth" is a load of baloney.. so he's going to donate all the profits of his book to charity is he? yes controversy creates cash and no matter who's toes he steps on.. I can't believe I'm agreeing with Keane..

A whole chapter dedicated to Manchester City's title victory details how their Premier League success was difficult for Ferguson to stomach. His wife, Cathy, told him that the final day of the 2011-12 campaign was the worst day of her life and he was determined to usurp them before retirement. Ferguson says United "absolutely battered" City during their 6-1 defeat at Old Trafford but insists there was no animosity towards Roberto Mancini. However, Ferguson said Mancini "let himself down" by allowing Carlos Tevez to return to the side after the Bayern Munich incident. JR

Becomes clear to me that he is a conman and (by necessity) a hypocrite - which is what JS was driving at.

His "handling" of the Glazers, putting them where he wanted them was his greatest con, allowing him the control he craved. Once he had that control he, had by definition the ability to abuse it, which he did.

His rebuttal of the suggestion that his relationship with his agent son was less than, let's say, ethical was extremely weak, "he was only an agent for 18 months then packed it in" a very poor riposte, he was desperate to get away from this line of questioning..

As for the ROG thing he is on thin ice. He was actually offered (generously) a share of future stud earnings (which over a ten year period would have earned him over 10m UKP, but took the greedy option of a 2.5mUKP pay off. There's more to this than meets the eye.

The timing of the book and its content is the biggest issue however, and further demonstrates his controlling nature, by trying to exert authority from "beyond the grave" ( I make no apology for the analogy) the brand. His arrogance knows no bounds and I think any owners with some spine would be outraged by the potentially destabilising of the club brought about by this callous and self obsessed man.

All in all I love it1

Is it annoying anyone else that this book is getting as much coverage as 9/11? I don't even think the royal wedding was as hyped up by the media.

It's a pissing book!

Shows the delusion starts at the very top over at the swamp. The Cult of Fergie ( soz if I misspelt that ! )

Oddly his arrogant ramblings and revelations have probably ensured his record of longevity will never be surpassed. If you were an owner into a club for ££millions of your own dosh would you commit to giving a manager this level of control and ability to massage his/her own ego only for it all to spill out in a biased rant on retirement?

One cannot help but wonder whether the backstory to ROG and the "99 questions" that flowed from that are entirely unconnected to Ferguson's complete absence of recalcitrance when it came to the Glazers.

Coolmore's gilt-edged parting gift to uncle malc when the shares were transferred perhaps?
