I don't think he's played similar to what he has this season.

He has.

As of 23/11:

This season - 1514 minutes played

Last season - 1454 minutes played

He's played exactly an hour more this season because of the Champions League qualifiers.

60 minutes over 5 months.

I don't, but I think the fact they are all running much more under Pep would balance out any drop for being in a 3 man midfield or not running for Yaya.

I'd say he may be the anomalie within the team, the distance he was covering was extreme when MP was playing a midfield 2, which was pretty often... I'll have a look!!

Funnily enough according to this article from January Fernandinho was only covering the same amount of ground per game as Yaya.

As pointed out in the article though Yaya's sprint stats were extremely low.

He's played the same amount in each of the last 3 seasons and he's never collapsed in The second part of the season.
Actually his performances went downhill in the latter part of 13/14, although I think that was the lack of a winter break more than anything.

Do you have his running stats??

Would be interested to see if without Yaya he is running less...

In the champions league he covers the least amount of ground per min in our midfield.

Silva, De Bruyne & Navas - Around 127m per minute

Gundogan - 121m per min

Dinho - 119m per min

Overall though he has covered the 4th most amount of distance after Gundogan, Kolarov and Otamendi

Comparable to previous seasons???

I kinda knew this would be the case, regardless of the new style, although, as Dom mentioned, his sprints will probably far outweigh everyone!

I thought he got injured, so slipped out of the team then he struggled to regain fitness and form through playing one game then not the next. All whilst Javi Garcia started to look a player.

I wouldn't say he 'collapsed' like others are suggesting.
