Fernandinho will be 33 when the season ends. However, he's like Milner or Hessenthaler, one of those freaks of nature, who will still be as fit as a butcher's dog when he's 37. I get no vibe from him regarding wanting to leave, he clearly loves it at City, Pep rightly rates him as one of the best in the business at what he does, and I don't doubt a new deal will be forthcoming. Chill.....

The big concern with this type of player is when it happens, it's sudden and drastic. Just look at how quickly Yaya went downhill. Giving him a big contract even for a year is risky, and I'm sure it's in the clubs interests to let him wait a little, it'll motivate him to keep performing. Makes far more sense to give it to him next week than in August for that reason alone.

I think everyone would assume he'll take Yaya's place in the squad set up next season.
