The more I respond in a his thread, the more it sounds like I don't rate Dihno. That is far from the case. I just don't think his skillset are unique. They aren't.

By the way, keeping the ball under pressure isn't one of his strength. He is deceptively more skillful than you'd think. Has better vision than he gets credit for. His pressure is good, but not special. He's tackling is okay, His reading and effort are great. His one touch pass, comes and goes. His movement when we are in possession is average. He has a very good shot on him.

He is having a great season. But I also saw him last season. When most thought he needed replacing. That Fernandihno from last season is the average Dihno without the knowledge of the system.

I know folks like saying he is underrated. Actually this has become an euphemism for "he plays dm", I can't recall any good DM that this isn't said about.

As if football fans are oblivious to what a DM does. We aren't. I know what DMs do. And Dihno is a good one, perhaps the best in the league this season. But his skillset are not unique or special. They just aren't.

I understand your point and my opinion is similar but i would not be able to elaborate so well because my english is more-or-less.

Fernandinho is an excellent player that i rate very high, i want him in my team, i like when he is a starter but would not be so tough to replace him, pribably.

Its the same in the nt. For example, Fernandinho played against Argentina instead of Casemiro. Brazil won it 3-0 and Fern did an amazing job. Next game Casemiro was back and was the same thing..

The players that are really hard to replace are the top creative guys like KDB, the top strikers and goalkeepers.

Agreed.

I know he didn't play tonight but his thread is worth a bump because it was another reminder we are so fucked if Fernandinho gets injured.

All through the league cup when we've rested him we look so average.

What's the solution? I honestly can't believe the drop off in quality to Yaya. Gundogan doesn't have the physical presence and looks very pedestrian and Delph isn't good enough technically.

Good that he was rested completely tonight,
Will be monumentally important on Sunday and I think he will drop another huge performance in a big game

Probably the single most important player to this squad outside the KDB/Silva axis, as nobody can do all the things to the standard he can and with his intensity

It might just be as much a function of Yaya playing. The gulf btw the 2 is ludicrous. As Yaya is finally done. If you remember, I argued vociferously against his resigning coz of the likelihood of this very scenario. :(

I see your Fernandihno and I raise you an Ederson and an Otamendi :)

I don't understand why Gundogan can't play this pivot role, he is more suited than Yaya, even if not as suited as Dinho.

When we seemingly get to the finals against Chelsea or Arsenal I hope Pep doesn't play Yaya out of some promise.

He's prone to having the occasional shit game, unfortunately it was a big one today, and coincided with some other players making mistakes and playing badly.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's fantastic for the rest of the season, certainly won't get worried about one bad game.

They sat someone on him or put him in a pincer and the back two couldn't cope without an out ball. It was rather reminiscent of when Dortmund came to the Etihad, pressed Toure relentlessly, and we ended up falling to bits.

Unusually for Dinho a lot if misplaced passes that enabled the Dippers to put us under pressure , seen a few defensive midfielders play into their mid thirties but my guess is Pep already has a replacement lined up , maybe a couple of games on the sidelines will recharge the batteries , he can't be written because of one bad game , and he's plenty good enough to get us through this season
