I thought he was under the spotlight a bit because of the media and he played a bit cleaner barr one tackle,it didn't diminish him at all,put him with the other legends,he will so hard to replace in a couple of years,i did say he would be ok for at least this season when there was a panic on,he is playing better than ever

So important to how we play. Excellent today. Gave Mahrez a bollocking too when he had to make the foul on Shaw because Mahrez was softly trying to get a foot in. What he does so well is make a foul look like an innocent coming together. A master of the dark arts. On the ball from deep just such a dream at times, composed and brilliant at finding the man in space. We really do need someone to help him so he can maintain those levels. If he is injured it impacts us more than De Bruyne (I can say that now!)

He is the only player in the current squad that can’t be replaced with someone else in it.

He is a beast. The boss. And playing better than ever.

Hopefully the fact that he doesn’t have as many miles on the clock as you’d expect might help him to keep up this level of performance for at least a couple more seasons. Looking at Wikipedia he’s played less than 600 career games (including internationals) which may seem like a lot, but someone like Alexis Sanchez who is 3 and a half years younger has played over 700 games. He was also only a regular for Brazil for about 4 years, so he hasn’t been making long trips to South America and back during international breaks for half of his career either.

"Algerian Twitter" is legitimately fuming with him for telling Mahrez off.

It'd be funny if it wasn't sad.

He's in the form of his life - he was imperious yesterday. There were times when he was so much better than Matic, Fellaini and Herrera it almost felt unfair.

I absolutely love the guy but the only criticism I've had previously is sometimes he gets caught receiving the ball off the defence when we're up against high-pressure teams like Liverpool. But this season he has been faultless. I think Bernado and Silva have helped because they drop deeper to receive the ball as well to take the pressure off. Kudos to Pep again.

Fern is now pretty much the perfect all-round midfielder and will rightly go down as a City great.

It’s been ingrained in people that he’s dirty.
He made 3 fouls yesterday.

The media and likes of Gary Neville feeding the image of being a " tactical fouler " , which is perfectly capable of, but yesterday he was superb and kept things moving beautifully .

Rags lemmings are too stupid for their thoughts to be valid, and rag cafe is a breeding ground for bitterness and total stupidity .

i find it bizarre that fans of a club that employed/employs Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, Herrera, Fellaini, Paul Scholes etc etc are moaning that Fernandinho commits some fouls

Must be a serious contender for best holding midfielder in the world on current form.

I don't see anyone who could realistically stake a claim to be better. Busquets has gone downhill significantly in the past 18 months, Casemiro has never been, and never will be in Fernandinho's class, and Kante can't do half the things Fern does.

Ince has done a interview with Paddy Power this morning and said he’s the best holding midfielder in the world. People go on about Kante he said but Fernandinho is the best in his opinion. I can’t argue with that!!
