Am I right in assuming that because we paid a little more than we were expecting to, we compromised with Fernandinho and he has been put on a reduced wage as a result to 'cover' the extra money on top of the fee we anticipated paying?

I think as I stated in a previous post, that we now have reduced our salaries we pay to new signings and give them a massive bonus, based on results.
Im assuming that Clichy, Silva and Aguero etc who have signed new deals will have had this new approach put in there contracts.

But after reading an article today, it looked as if we had compromised with Fernandinho and are paying him less than we would have as we paid more than originally thought.

I might be completely wrong about this.

I've not seen anything about him taking a reduced wage, he did though waive a £4m loyalty bonus to get the fee down, i wonder if that is what the article was alluding to?

I was doing some snooping on Chelski forums and came across this:

I honestly cant see Fernandinho being an amazing signing for city. I would play Javi Garcia over him anyday.

Its a shame their new manager doesn't believe similar,we may have gotten rid of the lump.

You might be correct. It was on the Mirror website though...
