So non season ticket holders can't hold a valid opinion?
I've read some bollocks on here but that is up with the best.

Not when their opinions ignore him actually doing the unrecognised jobs that other players flourish. Instead they watch the sensationalised bullshit aka match of the day.

That was the problem with the Adam johnson lovers, ignorant idiots who payed to much attention to match of the day and jamie redknapp

Silva has come out previously with his utmost praise for Barry. Tells you everything you need to know.

Is this becoming a York away type thing? Because that's also boring.

I do have eyes.

So that would be a no. This explains everything mate

If it helps you cope, sure.

We aren't shelling out 23m for Fernandinho for a good backup for Barry.

No you're right we are signing him to play alongside Barry and give Yaya that freedom infront of them. And then possibly swapping Milner and Barry in certain matches

-- Wed May 01, 2013 6:36 pm --

I remember Vieira also saying barry is one of the best players he has played alongside, which pretty much says it all

Get him in and then Obiang too. Garcia can then be shown the exit door asap and Rodwell will unfortunately never be more than a squad player due to his injury problems although he does have the ability we need. Barry has only one more season at the most with us.

I wouldn't mind keeping Barry at a much smaller wage. He's still useful against the likes of Stoke, Aston Villa etc

I can understand us wanting to reduce the wages and extend his contract but intimating that he is only useful against lower end teams is a ridiculous comment. IMO, over the last three seasons, when you look at the big PL and FA Cup games, it could be argued that he has consistently been our best performer in these matches.

I know this sounds arrogant but IMO when someone mocks Barry's ability, the first thing that comes into my head is, "That person knows sweet FA about football". I genuinely think that. I have become bored of explaining why he is a very good footballer. Let's get this straight, he has been one of the most important footballers at MCFC, at a time when we have been trying to establish ourselves as an elite club. He played a key role in ending our trophy drought (2011 Fa Cup) and in winning the league. He also given his all in every game.

The least he deserves from Blues is a bit of respect and appreciation.

I have become bored of hearing why a player who is consistently overrun in Europe by young midfielders who cost 1/10 of his price is touted as misunderstood. How much international success have you had with Barry?

He is not and never will be a European class midfielder. If he was Mexican, he wouldn't have half the support he does on here.

Kind of agree, certainly has many shortcomings to his game on the European stage, he's been a great servant and appreciated greatly but to suggest he's the calibre some have on here is ridiculous- the best way to deal with this is wait to see how influential yaya will become with a step up in class of partner!

Barry has still got plenty of years left in him yet... I reckon he could last at City until he was about 35/36. He has never ever relied on pace he relies on reading the game which is why he will be fine for another few years.

However there does come a time where your legs cant handle full games due to stamina and thats why I see Barry getting less game time. A ramires type player (fernandinho) is exactly what we need at the moment because Garcia is not what we hoped at all. A central midfield choice of Yaya, Fernandinho, Rodwell, Barry and maybe Garcia unless he gets shipped out looks very solid to me. Still have high hopes for Rodwell if he can shrug off these injuries.

If we want success in Europe then our best 11 should not have the likes of Barry in it. I do rate him and he has had some exceptional games this season but when you look at Dortmund's midfield which includes players like Bender and Gundogan or Bayerns midfield with Schweinsteiger, Kroos and Gustavo its quite clear we have to upgrade in this position. I would definitely keep Barry as a squad player though but he shouldn't be a regular starter.

Barry has a bad rep because he played against Germany when he wasnt fully fit. I agree fully with whoever said people who dont rate Barry dont get footie, that not a shot at anyone, its just my opinion Barry isnt a highlight reel kinda player, but is vital in the modern game every team has one.

Are you a season ticket holder by any chance?
Surely you can't be if you don't join in the Barry circle jerk.

Barry is a very good player. He can't handle being pressed, though, and that is damning in the Champions League.
