Fernandinho

Looks a quality box to box midfielder. He has a great engine getting him all over the pitch. He can use both feet, pass a ball well and break up attacks and get upfield to re-join them. He looks very comfortable on the ball and actively seeks it. Fernandinho has been doing this week in, week out in the Ukranian league and Champions League. He's going to be playing his peak years with us.

For me, Fernandinho is a great signing. He'll slot right into our midfield and, as he DOES have a left foot, won't worry whichever side of midfield he plays.

A great signing for us!

I'll tell you someone I did watch last night and was surprised how much he has seemed to regress and lose motivation.

Madrid will be ripe for the picking this summer and Ozil would be an upgrade on Nasri?
Bad couple of weeks for him. Nothing more.

We've had a bloody good go already, much to Barca's annoyance. Not sure even Txiki can balance it back in our favour.

Is Reus realistic? Given that Dortmund have lost Goetze and likely to lose Lewandowski? They are Champions League finalists but the way people are talking they won't have many of the current team left when the next season starts

I'm not so sure this lad is ready to quit Dortmund just yet. Money can always open the door but like Kaka, if a player wants to stay put, doesn't matter if the club will consider offers.

Waspish is correct, I believe Isco or Lamela fits the brief Begiristain is already working towards.

It doesn't get the board moist, but Cavani for around £50m is the biggest deal we can do this summer.

And I believe we will.

Ozil would be great against most of the league, as long as we didn't become reliant on him in the big games, because he frequently goes walkies. Flatters to deceive in lots of big big matches, very quick, looks impressive, often actually offers very little. However his season long stats clearly show he has a huge amount to offer to the team and is undoubtedly a huge talent.

If Bayern won the CL wouldn't mind Muller fancying a new challenge though ;)

I would love Ozil as he is a great player but I don't see him leaving Madrid soon.

Tolmie mate good to see you on here

Is city looking at any young talent at all like, Nicolas Gaitan, Younes belhanda, Adam maher etc

How about CM targets, we surely need better CMs, what would be our realistic targets

Gundogan? kondogbia, How about moutinho how come we are never linked with him

Any barca boys on our radar like alcantara, tello or delufeu?

Much as I would love it, mate, I think Madrid have the boy completely boxed off at present.

I have been told to expect a major surprise from left field, but would wager that would be more akin to a Neymar or Reus, than Bale.

Neymar really? You think we can beat Barcelona to Neymar?

We've had a bloody good go already, much to Barca's annoyance. Not sure even Txiki can balance it back in our favour.

I still think Neymar will end up at Real, when Tranny moves on

Likewise.

Don't mean to go off topic but I really don't rate Ozil. Goes missing far too often, in big games especially he is terrible, struggling to remember the last goal he scored against a top team?

For someone who would be costing 20-30m and having them just batter the half decent and rubbish of the league it would be a terrible bit of business.

Not sure that's how you judge a playmaker really but for what it's worth, I think he's scored against Atletico and Dortmund this season.

I really hope I am wrong but I am not impressed by this at all. For me this is the most important area of the side we need to improve, and like most I am a massive fan of both Barry and Milner.

I was hoping for a Fabregas or a Thiago to come in. Not a 27 year old from the Ukranian League who doesn't get a look in for Brazil.

Like Fabregas, Oezil would be the missing piece in our jigsaw. Perfect to be the most advanced player in a midfield 3 with Fernandinho and Yaya, with the ability to play wide if necessary. Dare I say it, similar to how Iniesta does at Barcelona. If there is *any* chance of getting him this summer we should go for it.

We were never going to get Fabregas, but even if we did we'd still need someone like Fernandinho. They're not vying for the same position.

Fernandinho is a step up in class from the likes of Scott Sinclair and Javi Garcia, and City’s announcement of the deal (which was reportedly agreed back in January but only made public now) shows that the blue side of Manchester are ready to battle for the Premier League title again next season.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/sky-italia-announce-manchester-city-buy-brazilian-fernandinho-shakhtar-donetsk-for-23m/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/sky-i ... k-for-23m/</a>?

Jumping the gun ......... saying City have announced the deal........ where has it been announced ?

Ozil's assists ratio is an absolute joke! He rips teams apart in Spain but i do notice he does go missing in big games. In the past two seasons for Madrid he has 17 assists! This season he only has 9 assists but has a career high of 9 goals.

Definite upgrade on Nasri but i don't think he's gettable.

Anyone been watching this Draxler at Schalke? Looks a class act at 19! Anotherrrrr German

Not seen much of him but seems fucking expensive for a 28 year old who's been playing in the russian league for the past 7 years
Ukraine.

Very unerrated league, with underrated players. Only reason they people stay in Ukraine for example instead of fullfilling their potential is that they can get a lot of money there.

Players like Srna, Fernandinho , WIllian is brilliant payers whom can reach a very high level as footballers

You've put me in my place there. Still reluctant to see us spend 23 million on a 28 year old who is still relatively unproven though.

Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu has praised midfielder Fernandinho and Croatian full-back Dario Srna for their contributions to the team's title success on Sunday, in a 1-1 draw with Metalist Kharkiv.

With the team virtually assured of the title anyway, thanks to a 15-point gap at the top of the table, it looked like they would have to wait to celebrate their success as Marko Devic opened the score for the visitors in the first-half.

Lucescu, though, rang the changes at the break and reserved special praise for both Srna and Fernandinho's role in turning the game around.

"In the first half, we probably played below our capabilities, he said. "Metalist could have scored more than one goal, they created more chances.

"The opponents were better in challenges for the ball in the middle of the park, and in the area where Douglas and Taison played, on their part in particular, there was more aggression—they had the advantage. We expected it to be like that, but we did not expect to concede a completely unnecessary goal.

"In the second half, everything changed on the pitch. I would like to mention the character of two players in this regard - Fernandinho and Srna.

"They showed by their game that they couldn’t leave the pitch today without winning the title. They were a sparkplug for the rest."
