Being slightly faster was the only thing missing from Barrys game.
Fernadinho is top class,he isnt the problem.

He is a slightly more technical Ramirez. It took Ramirez half a season to come thru. ANd I expect the same for Dihno. He is lightning quick, a tough tackler and a simple passer. This describes Ramirez. He will be good, but not great.Kun Aguero said:To me he's a slightly faster Barry. Not seen much dribbling from him but that'll come.

If his sort of midfielder, the dynamic 'all-rounder', is specifically what we were looking for rather than a dogged holding midfielder, then we probably got one of the best available (a good midfielder is becoming hard to get as United have found out this summer). Vidal would have been the ultimate (he is bossing it again for Juve right now) but not available at any price really. Fernandinho will be bossing it after his settling in period I reckon, he's showing better immediate signs than even Yaya did (people forget Yaya, Silva, and others were fairly slow to settle).

If that's me willing him to fail then so be it

He isn't keeping out of the Brazil squad. They could easily play together. And even if they play the same position the brazil squad is usually 20 odd players so if Paulinho got injured someone would replace him. So who is the second player keeping him out.

Playing in a two man midfield alongside a player who doesn't do Premier League defending for 90 minutes IS.
I say two man midfield because nobody who started in AM against Hull today did any defending whatsoever.
The pressing was too slow such that the ball was passed before the player got to block/harry thus leaving a big hole behind the AMs and the DMs.
A shambles really.
Quite. I thought pressing was going to be a feature of our game this season. Not seen any evidence of it so far but it's desperately needed.bluethunder said:BlueAnorak said:Fernandiniho is a good player and isn't the problem.

i noticed that. there was very little pressing today. i found that to be strange. perhaps pellegrini wants to drop the pressing part of our game ?
No,he's much faster, more mobile and has an eye for a range of passes.chesterbells said:He's no Nigel de Jong is he?
