TH made a comment recently reminding us that Torres is injured and unavailable for the majority of August. Perhaps there was an inferred comment that the deal will be done once he is recovered.

Why sign him now and pay a month of his wages while he is unfit to play?

And its defo not a hold up on the medical as we all know even a dead man would pass a medical at City.
 
I really can't see this deal happening now or at end of August. I think IF we get Balotelli (taking an age that one!) then we should be happy with our lot for strikers. Torres just ain't gonna get done IMO.

But it is interesting that all we now need do as a club is put our name in the frame and wait for positive noises.

The manager has said his piece to the player and in essence has said 'its your choice, be part of a bright future or a bright past'.

That is very much more positive than under Hughes where he didn't know when to walk away and ended up throwing money at players well past a sensible place.

Now thats a different situation. Hughes had to convince top class players to join city even though we finished tenth and he did a great job in that transfer window and no-one can deny that.

...one of the best strikers in the world today...and we can afford to get him fit (not a career threatening injury he has) - I just don't get it peoples negativity about him!

Fernando Torres and City mentioned in the same breath? Bloody does it for me, but Ive been here 35 years....

Please add me to the list of people who think Hughes was incapable of getting the best names (and upcoming talent) into the club.

Even I could have convinced Lescott and Bridge with the money on offer, the difference is I wouldnt have bothered.

Kolarov, better, stronger,faster and younger than Bridge and CHEAPER

Boateng ditto for Lescott

etc etc
