Christ, some are never happy

41k a week for a player of his quality is Turpin-esque

It's a brilliant piece of business and again shows the power we have behind the scenes

Follow this up with mangala and zuculini and the success of this seasons transfer policy looks 'ok'

Mangala not yet..

I'm happy with that but I'd add sorting our fullbacks out for next season , Think Zaba is the only one sure to be here next season.

He's the one we'll break the bank for in the summer IMO

I agree but clichy won't be going anywhere, as good as ak has improved there is most certainly better out there, shaw would be ideal but frighteningly is off to the chavs, I think Marcelo would be perfect for us, he's sadly not at the races at the mo...... The zab situation is a little difficult, we need to be looking relatively young as no established right back is going to come here with him in front of him, he's the best in the business!!!!!!

The way he looks after himself (Zabs) I hope we get at least another 5 years out of him.He will be 34 then, but I agree we do need to start looking around, especially if Micah keeps breaking down.

A Bola: City will hand Fernando a deal worth £41,000-per-week when he joins on a free in June. Porto all but resigned to losing him.

What a bargain.

Does the article explicitly say he's 'off ' to us?

Fernadinho, Mangala, and Yaya Toure = One of the most mobile midfields around? This clearly shows the level of fitness Manuel Pellegrini is asking for. Just so freaking excited with such potential.

Also if the rumours that they wil not play him because he will not sign a new deal are correct. Why does he not agree to buy the remainder of his contract off (Cancel by mutual consent). Then he is a free agent and can sign for us??

There is some Portuguese law making it very expensive to buy out your own contract apparently, some Portuguese poster posted so
Pretty sure you'd have to pay the minumum fee release clause to buy out your contract, I think that's the legal reason why they are legally required in Spain/Portugal

Many thanks Oscar

Wow yea you have done your homework

OK. One question. Where officially is it stated that Fernando has signed the dotted line and will join us in the summer. The question has been asked several times in this hread but there is no definitive answer. It comes across as what we want to hear i.e he is a city player. Well, where is the confirmation?

In there he states his destination is Manchester in June. That's as close as I can find.

could it be possible for a gentlemens agreement between city and porto we pay them say 9 mill they tear up his contract and we get the player straight away as a free is that within the rules.

No, as that is essentially what a transfer is. It would get investigated and we'd get in huge trouble. Unfortunately I think we'll just have to make do with what we have untill the summer.

could of done with him last night.shame we didn't push it thru on deadline day

According to that, if Fernando declines to sign a new contract Porto will refuse to play him, even if he's fit.

Blackmailing a player to stay?

Nice.

Why didn't the silly cunts just place a realistic valuation on him last week? We would've given them the dosh, he would've gotten his move, everyone is happy. Now, in all likelihood, he'll sign for us in the summer as a free agent and Porto won't receive a penny.

Stupid fucks.

We could've really done with Fernando now as well, especially so given Fernandinho's recent injury. It would be absurd, and the height of unprofessional vindictiveness, if Porto refuse to play him for the rest of the season.

Morons.
