We already have a world class centre back and a fantastic up and coming centre back why would we waste £25 million + on something we dont need. Did Mark Hughes take over again?

Because the world class centre back that we do have is starting to pick up a lot of injuries and would benefit from having another top quality centre half at the club so that he can be rested and isn't missed quite so badly when he's injured, and our up and coming centre back is inexperienced and isn't (yet) good enough to cope without a top quality centre back alongside him. This means we're fine when Vinny's fit, but vulnerable when he's not. Is this fine with everybody else?

Madrid weren't willing to sell but Pepe would have been ideal. We have too many nice guys and need a bit more steel and leadership in team - especially when Kompany is injured.

You presume that Mancini would have offered Kolo a new contract. Given the wages he was on, he was always going to be offloaded. Pellegrini had faith in Lescott and Garcia and did not foresee injuries to our two best centre backs and to Micah. The goals conceded against Cardiff were from a players poor defending, man marking means you can see who is at fault, and Zabba was. He is still excellent but made a couple of mistakes. We showed fight and determination to go one up in that game and then to fight back. Cover has now been brought in considering the performances of Garcia and Lescott at centre back, Pellegrini has seen that we have needed to get some experienced cover in. Now the window is shut and we can see what happens. Lets see after 10 games where we are at.

I am not presuming anything supercity. All I am saying is we let Kolo go without an adequate replacement which we did.
Having faith in Garcia is an honourable thing to do. The results speak for themselves.
We changed our tactics and system when defending without our 2 best defenders. The results speak for themselves.
All I am saying is why a lot of the fans are now very nervous and they are. Hopefully, we will iron out the issues quickly.
I am not defending or criticising either Mancini or Pellegrini I am simply articulating my view.

Kolo was out of contract so we had no control over when he left (given that he was not getting a new contract).

I'm saying we should have signed a top quality centre back, and paid the necessary fee. That's my argument, because we needed one. If the two amigos are intending to point at a reduced wage bill at the end of the season, as some sort of achievement for which they deserve credit, then they better be pointing at some trophies at the same time. Any muppet can cut a wage bill and win fuck all. Ask Wenger. While your at it, ask him why he's just smashed his clubs transfer record.

World class centre backs dont do squad rotation and I dont think Nastasic is going to do sitting on a bench. Not exactly development unless he plans on being a bench warmer for his career. Kompany is having a bad time with injuries but these things happen
