Your insecurity is blinding. That article was many many years ago, and you should know that there’s been hundreds of comparisons to Messi, so there’s no need to read that much into it. It was more a comparison of playing style, which is pretty common. You seem to be another one that don’t watch youth football, but still for some reason assume it’s impossible we could ever have a Foden again, when in fact it’s actually very possible. The level of the academy is rising day by day, and all age groups even down to U12 now learn to play the same way as the first team, which makes the transition from youth to senior football a lot easier. The current first team squad is far better than it was a few years ago, and that could be a significant reason to why Foden got more minutes at McAtees age. Foden wasn’t THAT much better than Marcos Lopes for example, but the difference is we now have Pep and not Pellegrini. It was pretty close between Foden, Sancho and Brahim as well, but Phil seemed to be working the hardest and was far more patient. With todays level of the academy, it wouldn’t surprise me if we had another Foden in a couple years, but it would depend on injuries, rotation and loads of patience to even get a sniff, and some players might prefer to do it somewhere else. No need to be so rude, have a happy christmas
Very good post, One difference between Foden, McAtee and Diaz, Sancho and Lopes is that Foden and McAtee have been at City for all their academy career. This, in the case of McAtee, hopefully means he will have the patience of Foden and make a success of his time here in our first eleven. He is certainly talented enough.

Hope he re-signs up.

Spot on.

Alfie Harrison was certainly on that trajectory, although after the last couple of years I'm not sure where he's at now in terms of development.

Thought we all have our Opinions . This is a great forum but is let down posters slagging people opinions off . We all want what is best for Manchester City after all .
Opinions are like onions, they spell similarly, usually have many layers and tend to make people cry

I’ve been watching the academy for the past 10 years. McAtee is definitely on a similar level to Foden. There was an article in The Times a couple years ago on Citys academy. McAtee was mentioned and said to be a English Messi, and arguably the brightest prospect ever to come out of Manchester. If you compare Foden and McAtee’s performances at youth level it’s very close

I agree with you, but it seems Pep rates Palmer higher than Mcatee !
