Oakiecokie. You’re right with this and perhaps what has become the City way with transfers out. Rather like Dortmund have have a MO of bagging young talent with a promise to sell on after 3 years or so we maybe have gone down a similar path with a message of come and work with us and if it doesn’t work out we will not make it overly difficult for you to leave if the right offer comes in.
Everyone has a view how much Torres and other players are worth. Personally I think City have done a remarkable job in controlling their transfer spend.
I believe it’s a great sales pitch to point to the Torres (and Sane) type of treatment when trying to sign another talent. How many blues had heard of Torres when he signed? We appear to have banked c£25m profit in under 18 months and we may even have some sort of sell on clause.
