Ferran Torres signs for Barcelona

As I said in the other thread, bit annoyed that he's going so soon, mainly because of how complimentary he was about following the David Silva route to success.

Suits us both, he could be great but he needs a good coach. Is Xavi it? Hmmm. But if he's not happy here we'd not see the best of him anyway. Doesn't immediately weaken us, the gamble is more for Barca, I just hope ferran has thought this through and feels he has the best chance if developing and happiness back in Spain. If not he'll be a journeyman by the time he's 25.

Now for the interesting stuff. Full back, defensive midfielder and a striker, two spaces free now and one summer.

Good luck to him.
Nothing to do with the deal but doesn't this one sentence show FFP up for the sham it is?

"Barca are able to fund the deal despite their current financial troubles thanks to a recent bank loan."

So owners can't put their hand in their pockets but they can go to the bank and get a loan!

Sorry to see him leave but despite that this a decent bit of business by the Club.

Remember when all the best players used to play for Barcelona and every other team coveted them. How times have changed !!

As long as we get paid. It's irrelevant how we get paid (within reason, not over 100 years for example).

City will put the money through our books however we see fit.

Theoretically we could:
Put the €55m through our books this season.
Sign Haaland for €75m (release clause), spread it across 5 seasons, €15m each season.
Make €40m profit this season (across the 2 deals).

Not sure that’s theoretically what we could do, that’s exactly what we have to do on the p&l. The cash flow is different.

A real shame but a fantastic move for the lad moving to one of the biggest and best clubs in world football in his home country. Good luck to him.
