Ferran Torres

This is genuinely one of those deals which will fly low under the radar due to United spending a record fee on Sancho, yet I think he'll have just as good an impact.

Torres is rapid, two footed and can play on either wing.

Sancho is probably further along in his development, but he's also playing in a much better side, although in a worse league. I really struggle with the Bundesliga as its the league which made Mkhitaryan look a world beater.

I can't wait to see Torres in a City shirt. I think he'll be absolutely fantastic after settling in.

Yes, and Angelino has looked good over there too. Fingers crossed you’re correct about Torres. Due to sign today isn’t he, if this morning’s medical goes smoothly.

Give it a week.

Our reported rounded up fee for torres will soon be more than utd's reported rounded down fee for sancho.

Lol, they changed it now. Not the headline, mind!, but added that it will initially cost £20.9mil in the article.
They're just making up figures as it goes. Sanchez to Inter was £13.5mil yesterday, now it's a free transfer. ycnmiu

I really hope this lad turns out to be fucking amazing.

At the moment it just feels a bit like we're buying a Focus ST when next door is buying a Ferrari.

Pisses me off that despite the CAS victory we still seem to have to watch the pennies while those cûnts can spend with impunity.

Don't think we are buying Torres instead of Sancho because he's cheaper. Think myself Torres will be the better buy.

They try to make big signings, we try to make the right ones. I honestly wouldn't be paying any real attention to what they do in the market.

Dortmund have an incredible knack of selling their best players and still improving because of the replacements they bring in and Torres was the replacement they wanted for Sancho. Read into that what you will.

In fairness, we're about to spend 40m on a player who just got relegated.

How the heck have you concluded that regarding our spending

How is Sancho a Ferrari?
He plays with Reus, Haaland, Brandt, Alcacer, Thorgan Hazard, Witzel. I couldn’t even name one teammate for Ferran at Valencia.

If Pep saw something in Sancho, he would’ve gone the same path as Foden. He didn’t.
I think Pep rates Sancho but prefer Ferran’s style of play. I genuinely believe Ferran is a better player. Put him at Dortmund and he would get a lot of goals and assists.

I can name an absolutely incompetent striker called Rodrigo who would make Jesus look like a world class finisher.

What a ridiculous statement. My brother in law who is a rag said the following to me:

Great deal with ferran.

I mentioned United being close to Sancho and his exact words were "it's a lot of money for someone with no Premier league experience"

Fair enough, but your brother in law sounds like an atypical united fan, based on the ones I’ve ever met.

Value for money, it's been 10 years now and some people still don't get it.

Sure he's not got explosive pace but he's no slouch either. Admittedly I've only seen clips of him but he seems to be able to pass and shoot with power using either foot, has exceptional close control and, crucially for a player in his position, is always looking to move the ball forward. He's a Spain under 21 international and they don't pick many duffers.

I can't speak for why we are not back in for Sancho, but I imagine that the deal doesn't represent value for money.

Torres for a quarter of the Sancho fee is smart, fits with the club ethos from playing style to financial structure, and is one part of a bigger plan.

I have no doubt if Sancho goes to United it will be hailed as a great move and so on, but the reality is that adding one player doesn't mean they improve on third. They were lucky to finish that high and, for my money, have other areas of the team they desperately need to address. He'll score a few for them, earn them a few penalties, but really will it add anything they don't already have? Yes it is always nice to have English players featuring prominently, but there is a balance to be had. Is he really a €100m player?

United's philosophy of going big has created a huge risk for them. A couple of injuries, bad form or a more 'normal' figure of penalties awarded next season and they may find themselves approaching a billion in debt and Europa League football again if they are lucky. Even with Sancho.

The right move, for both clubs.

Typical as in he realises we are securing a talented player for a 1/5th of what they are throwing at Sancho.

The very same Sancho who went AWOL on this very club instead of joining pep and the rest of the team in North America.

He basically forced a sale to Dortmund. A few years later is now looking to move again. Has had disciplinary issues whilst in Germany and we are also receiving 15% of a fee.

You think he's a ferrari. Well using your analogy he's a temperamental ferrari then while we appear to be buying a more efficient and reliable Ford.
