Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

We miss Dias so terribly, we’ve conceded 15 goals since he got injured. He’s the only out and out defender we have. He’s also really committed and a leader, we are sorely lacking leadership at the moment.

We need to rest Lewis, Gvardiol if we can. Walker is done and needs to go as soon as possible.

Our back four needs to be Akanji, Stones, Diaa and Ake as soon as they’re all fit. We need defenders.

Our midfield is a shambles Gundogan should be closing out matches instead we’re asking him to run our midfield. Silva offers very little in midfield or wide. Foden is off form. Nunes is a perfect microcosm of our issues right now, great when we’re playing well, offers nothing defensively and seems to lack real conviction. No idea if we’re ever going to see KDB really shine for us again. We’ve bought poorly in midfield and need to get it right in January or who knows how bad it will get.

We desperately need to dig out some results until January so our season doesn’t unravel completely.

Kev’s got no chance with his hair like that.

The day he decided it was a top idea to grow it was when it all started going pear.

I’m with you on the subs and the reason why but not altogether one sub at a time. Slows the game down and stops there momentum if they do get a goal
I get that.
Still at 3-0 with 15 minutes left on the clock even Pep cannot have seen that capitulation.
It’s a mistake by him only in hindsight, but to suggest it’s all on him is quite ridiculous.

I'm suspecting Pep thought it was in the bag, hence those subs. To be fair I don't think anyone thought there was going to be a Benny Hill show for the last 15 mins at the back. But I agree, we didn't react when they scored.
We’ve seen us do it in the league umpteen times, concede a shit goal when cruising, but we’ve been way better than other teams and capable of seeing games out whereas tonight we couldn’t afford to give them a sniff. I hate to say I predicted it, but I turned to the guys round me and said we can’t afford to give them a goal tonight, then we did and the rest is history.

They just had to play it safe, keep the ball and see out the game. Then Gvardiol criminally plays an absolute hospital ball and it's 3-1. You could visibly see the panic and loss of belief grip them from the minute the ball hit our net. All old hand blues just knew what was coming from there.
I really didn't want to believe what could happen was going to happen and it did. Inexplicable 3 goals conceded, but that 1st one is stunningly awful.

Teams decline, sure. But the difference between what was a few months ago, and what is now is not a decline. I have no idea what it is. Jumping off a cliff? Fuck knows. It's nuts.
I always expected a drop off, especially as our recruitment has been piss poor for the last 3 or 4 years. Not to this level though where it's actually embarrassing to watch proven winners crumble and have no answers.

Time to strengthen is from a position of power, put your foot on their necks and squeeze. We've all known we needed a Rodri backup, Philips wasn't the answer but the fact we signed him meant it was still a question that needed answering. Now it's bit us on the arse.

Grealish - still have no idea why we signed him. Had half a good season from Jan to May in the treble season. Done little else for 100m. Doesn't score, doesnt assist or create. Keeps possession though.

Doku and Savinho - think both will come good eventually but weve replaced proven quality with potential.

Midfield is the key area, it's just too easy to bypass us now. No pace, no legs.

Will get worse before it gets better, can't see anything other than a Liverpool win Sunday on current form but maybe that's the sort of backs to the wall game we need to turn things round.

Anyone else even slightly enjoying this spell? We’ve been brilliant for 6 or 7 seasons and we are struggling. Feels real. Let’s see what we’re made of, players and fans.

I haven't seen a City team collapse so spectacularly since the 3-3 at home to Bournemouth when we were 3-0 up at halftime. Congas on the Kippax, party time then we fell to pieces.
Oh my Lord. Don’t remind me. My sister’s last game attended before she couldn’t attend anymore due to MS. Oh, that bloody beach ball.
