Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

They got away with bits and pieces in the first half but did defend well with their blocks and their keeper. We did show signs of having that extra bit of confidence

I honestly don't think things are that bad.just get gvardiol and Dias paired at centre back.joskos marauding runs are leaving us open on the counter because now we don't have rodri covering there.get ake left back get akanji in at defensive mid til Jan with gundo.hopefully that will help us tighten up.

Teams will still target him if he plays centrally and as we are seeing he is prone to lapses in concentration and silly errors.

And where do you think the confidence is now having given up a 3-0 lead in 15 minutes? Against let's face it - a very average dutch team.

At this point in time we need results, and to me this was arguably a more damaging result than any of the previous 5 given the way we just capitulated.

Overall our passing was much better and were looking a bit more like our oldselves. Barring the individual errors (which isn't a new thing and in the past, we nearly always managed to ride it out) it wasn't the worst of recent team performances.

Gvardiol has played 200 games and has cost us a £77m in the process. Being young isn't an excuse for poor mistakes. Even his national coach doesn't really fancy playing him centrally.
Yes, this is especially true when he's committed defensive blunders that have cost us dearly in three recent matches. At this point he must be benched not only to protect the club but also himself. He desperately needs a break to settle down and find a way to rediscover both his confidence and his focus during matches. I pray that Dias or Stones is available to start on Sunday with Ake to move to left back. I'd also consider starting Ortega-Moreno over Ederson, even though the latter is my favorite player.

If we are really really fortunate, Pool will have seen this and will assume that Sunday's match will be a walkover. Not likely, though.
