Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Pep certainly has things to answer for but he’d have been crucified if we get hammered by the dippers using players even more shagged out than they are now. If you can’t rest anyone when you’re 3-0 up against the Dog & Duck, 20 minutes to play and have a dressing room full of sick notes, when can you?

Criticise other stuff by all means but at least there was a logic:

- Gundo off: age has taken its toll and he’s playing far more minutes than he should.

- KDB on: patently not match fit so it was an opportunity to ease him back.

- Phil off: been looking a bit jaded this season and some suspect poorly.

- Nathan off. Only just back from injury and he’s needed for the dipper game.

- McAtee on: a rare chance to give him some minutes.

Some people want it every fcukin way but hindsight’s all too easy when pontificating on a forum. We don’t have that luxury in real life.
I had no issue with who he took off, it was throwing that bag of nerves Pusey into the game when Dias and Walker were on the bench that bothered me instantly. My heart sank a bit when I saw he was coming on.

Dias should have been given 15 mins ahead of Anfeld. Feyenoord wouldn't even get their first goal with him there. Instead Pusey caused the chaos that gave Feyenoord a sniff and our shit confidence takes care of the rest.

You have to ask, if Dias isn't fit enough to play 15 mins in a game that's all but over, then why is he even on the bench? Bizarre from Pep tonight and absolutely suicidal shit from the players - Ederson and Gvardiol especially. A terrible end.

Yep. There’s a reason we are the only team to win 4 in a row. It’s ridiculous the team achieved that after the treble. They look physically and mentally knackered, perhaps since the FA Cup final. Not surprising given what they’ve done over the last few years and the injuries have then killed us. Am sure Pep made those subs with an eye on the weekend and fear of more injuries.

We as Blues can’t forget their achievements. We are all pissed off, but we’ve got to give them the love, when all the media and red fuckers will be rubbing their grubby hands, hoping we turn on each other and then forget what we’ve experienced over the last 15 years.

They want to stain all we’ve loved - fuck them. It may be coming to the end of a cycle, but rage, rage against the dying of the light. This team and club deserves that and they have to know we love them, we might win something, we might not this season, but they deserve our gratitude, passion and fight.
Well said mate.
In a thread full of mardarses and entitled bellends, someone sees the bigger picture and posts some sense.
Well said brother.

Criticism not allowed? I think after recent results and the manner in which they happened your the only one that isn't a ****. Followed this team for 58 years so i can recognise shit when i see it, and this team and manager are up to their necks in it. Problem is that it is their own shit
Well you know fair well what losing is all about then or have you forgotten when we lost regularly?

Yeah , thats lovely.
Now mind if we discuss the drop off and how it's happened and the mistakes made? Hopefully the board will be discussing those things and not saying "nice whilst it lasted".

Pep has frustrated me in the past for not throwing youngsters on when the game has seemingly been won…..so not going to criticise him for doing just that tonight….but why couldn’t we just drop to a flat back four after their first goal.

The experienced players let us down….De Bruyne with misplaced passes and failing to take the sting out of the game, Akanji strolling about thinking he’s the new Beckenbaeur (he’s actually very good when he sticks to the basics) and poor goalkeeping by Ederson plus some really sloppy and weak play by Gvardiol.

At times tonight we looked a little like our old selves but where has this sudden frailty come from……we definitely miss Dias for his leadership and organisation….De Bruyne is definitely not captain material.

Time waits for no one and despite an unbelievable achievement in winning the league last year….Walker, Gundogan (although tonight was his best game since his return) De Bruyne and Stones should be nowhere near the squad next season……and maybe one or two others.

If there is to be a criticism of Pep it is too much loyalty for the old guard.

We can’t have a relatively small squad with players that are very injury prone….Grealish, Doku and Ake have got to prove they can stay fit.

Our main aim has got to be Champions League qualification but this is going to hard to get over the line because some of the players know this will be their last season.

Let’s hope a top defensive midfielder is on his way for just after Christmas.

If Dias doesn’t play on Sunday it could end up as a humiliation.. so why wasn’t he brought on for 20 minutes to give him a bit of game time and to help us see the game out.. which he almost certainly would have done
