Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

This is all down to our transfer policy. Everyone knows that we have several 30 odd year old. Why not buy, we are wealthy, you improve the squad. We are going backwards, the good times are over. Bar 5 or 6 players we are average at best. I'm gutted, because I have loved it. I never thought I would have seen what I have seen, I'm 67 on Thursday, I want it back again.

Some of the pundits words.

I am lost for words.

Going forward you need to be given freedom but for defenders there are rules you must follow.

When you are defending and there is no pressure on the ball you can't have your line flat. From a very comfortable game, 3-0 up, everyone thinking about Liverpool on Sunday, and now at 3-3, that will feel like a defeat.

Conceding the way City at the weekend and three again this weekend they look weak, they look light, they look frail.

What you cannot do is give them a little bit of hope. That is what they did.

Even with two minutes to go and 3-2 up, they take a quick free-kick. Why? Kill the game. They were in such a comfortable position.

All the things we spoke about before the match, they were all there in the second half. The high line, individual errors. That's what has lost them the lead.

I suspect there will be one or two home truths in the dressing room.

Credit to Feyenoord. They kept going and kept going and their fans and celebrating like they have won the league.

We're hurting at the moment, but if we can stabilise this slump (and the performance up to 70 minutes gives me confidence that we can), get to January and buy some re-enforcements, by then Doku and Kovacic will be back, also Bobb might be coming back then, maybe by the end of January. I'm sure now he has signed his contract Pep will have a lot of money to spend, 2 or 3 players will get us a top 4 finish.

Absolutely pathetic and ANOTHER example of a couple of quick goals leading to a total collapse. Real, Lyon, Liverpool, Monaco, Sporting, Feyenoord have all shown what to do. Brighton, Bournemouth and Spurs now as well.
The teams picking us off aren't top class, they just play with pace. We've been found out and no player is prepared to stand up as a Captain and rally the players.

I just don't see our defence working well enough to stop any team at the minute. Quite simply, it's rubbish. The structure of the team is well off and it's every player who looks well below their best.

I don't know what we have to do against Liverpool but we can't defend, don't create clear chances and Haalands off form. Our passing is slow, dull and predictable and just ineffective.

Pep needs to roast the fucking lot of them in that dressing room. We need BIG changes.
I keep saying this and I get crapped for saying it. Teams beat us with pace. They know what's coming. They know we are going to try and pass the ball into the net. They know we are not a threat from beyond the box. And when they win possession, they counter WITH SPEED. And we have shown none of that. Bournemouth exploited us for the entire league. And teams have used that playbook and will continue to do so until we adjust. Footy has changed drastically in the past two years. Pep needs to adapt as well.
