Agree. Very little point running around to keep warm. A very large part of the problem now is a psychological deficit. This needs to be worked on. Also the manager must tweak the system even if he stays within the realm of his football philosophy. Back in the day when a team was in a rut it was believed that the first thing to do is to stop the goals leaking in. That builds a degree of confidence which allows the right results to return. If we repeat what we have been doing for the last few weeks things will get an awful lot worse before they improve.

I thought we might have seen something different for the Spurs game. There was time to think about it over the international break and then implement it in training last week. There was no change and then the goals flew in from mistakes. Looked like we had reversed it last night then the subs changed the game and allowed them back in.

Will be interesting to see what happens on Sunday, Slot will be wanting them to knock us over quickly. If we sit and stay in a shape and pick up on the 2nd balls you never know City could suprise us.

Haha, nooooooo! I was ten years old, or possibly nine, still in primary school, went to Maine Road on my own (those were the days!), two buses across Manchester, 'n I stood on the Kippax front row. And the only thing I could see after we had established a 3-1 lead was to see some ghostly figures taking three centre kicks inside the last ten minutes. City 3-4 Wolves! I've got previous that inures to the the kind of stuff most of the folk at the game last night witnessed for the first time!

Genuinely curious, mate. Your parents let you go alone to Maine Road, getting two different buses to do it? If I ask, it's because having a grand-daughter who's now ten, I'm acutely conscious of how terrified everyone now is of giving autonomy to children, and of trusting the world not to be full of perverts, stalkers, winos, weirdos and just general criminals.
We used to be out in the streets and the parks like wild animals, for all our parents cared, to be fair, especially on summer evenings. But I'm not sure I would have let my ten-year-old (still less nine-year-old) do that, even at the time.

Erling Haaland & Josko Guadiol shot "HELLO" &
Jeremy Doku & Savinho say "hi" !!

Now, what we're you saying ?
Kalvin, Gomez also say hi.

No back up to Haaland and no backup to Rodri also shout a massive HELLO!

Doku and Savinho are no where near good enough for us. Early days for Savinho, but early signs he "might" become decent.

If we had signed just 3 or 4 top quality, younger players over the last 3 years - in the right areas. We would still be untouchable!!!

Only too well mate, perhaps i've been spoilt by our successes but my demands on this team are greater given our successes and investment. I can handle defeats, i can handle fuck ups but to continue to make the same fuck ups time after time is either incompetence or sheer arrogance . Pep needs to find a plan B and mix things up a bit. Our defence needs to be drilled and trained and not fucked about with. If Pep can't do it then he needs to get in a defensive coach to do it for him.
We've all being spoilt by success, pal. We have peaked and are now sliding from the summit at an alarming rate. But much of it has been caused by having too many players out injured and players out of form. I also think fatigue is the result of several seasons of playing too many games domestically and international games, plus summer friendlies abroad have meant players have not had a proper summer break to rest and recuperate. Also age has caught up with Gundogan, Walker, Debruye and too a lesser extent Bernardo.

I agree about getting in a specialist defensive coach but our main problem in defence is it's a different backline every game due mostly to injuries. And when we have a fully fit squad we still have to rotate CB positions as we have the greatest depth in that position

Our squad is too small for the amount of games we're playing and hopefully Pep now realises and rectifies it by signing more players to boost the squad size which will help with players getting rested and rotated.

I think we blues have to realise and accept that we're nowhere near to being at our best, but accepting 6 defeats on the bounce has been unpleasant viewing to say the least . Our confidence and morale is as low or lower than when Pep first joined us.

I'm not looking forward to Sunday because I fear we could get a proper thrashing, and we're probably going to suffer getting beaten regularly until we can get players back from injury and back on form. And 2 or 3 quality January signings will certainly help in the second half of the season.

Wouldn't bother me if we get knocked out of Europe early because we can concentrate on getting top 4 in the league. Anything else is a bonus but we may not win anything this season which won't too disappointing considering where we're at now.

Exactly, the implosion all started with Gvardiol. The whole momentum shifted at that point when we had been totally in control. He was at fault for the first two goals tonight just as he was for the first two against Spurs. He still looks good going forward and has scored some very important goals for us but his main job is to defend. We need a proper left back who knows where to position himself rather than be shoehorning in a converted midfielder/ centre back. Too often he drifts inside to the central position where he is probably more comfortable leaving acres of space on our left for counters.

Poor judgement from Eddie who was never going to reach that through ball for their third and it seems every shot against him is going in. Also he doesn’t command his box and too often stands on his line rather than coming for the ball when a corner or cross comes in. Maybe time for Ortega to get a run of games?
That is bollox about eddie

Things were a lot different then. We'd go out 'n play for the day, come home for dinner 'n then out again. My Dad used to take us out on a Sunday which invariably meant getting a but from Piccadilly to the outer edges of Manchester so I knew all the bus routes. In the ground, programme and four penny bus rides.

Pep has rarely made 3 subs and when he has the team has been on form which they plainly are not
The subs affecting the balance of the team resulted in more pressure from the opponents leading to the mistakes
One occasion was the Derby in 2022. 6-1 up and he makes wholesale changes and then the rags manage to rampage through our midfield and gain back some respectability.

(I haven’t said this today so felt it was time!!)

MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.

If my mantra upsets you I apologise but you do have the option to do something about it. *cheeky grin* The option is to stay positive. We’ll bounce back. It might take a little while but we will. :-):-)

You're right but what was that game a few years ago - Leicester at home? Pep made the garbage time subs (Philips, Gomez, Palmer) in the second half and ut felt like we were just hanging on.
4-0 to 4-3 before Laporte scored to everyone's relief. Only Arsenal had lost a 4-0 HT lead away to NU.

It was similar actors to Brighton away at the end, Lewis and Gvardiol aren't what you call out and out defenders, and JSP isn't ready.

Last night felt like a defeat, but it wasn’t. Just five on the bounce mate ;-)

Times were very different mate.
Aged 13 in 1972, I was allowed to go from Sholver (Oldham)… Bus to Train station, Train to Victoria, then bus from Aytoun St to ground. I wouldn’t think I’d be allowed today.

Sorry mate, it's 6.

Spurs A
Bournemouth H
Sporting A
Brighton A
Spurs H
Feyenoord H
Are you winding me up? The first 5 we lost, the last game we drew. That’s 5 defeats on the run, not 6 :-). This is what you said…

but accepting 6 defeats on the bounce has been unpleasant viewing to say the least

Oops. Sorry mate, not winding you up. Last night's game felt like a loss and it's obviously affected my thinking : )

For years it was "city won't stop trying to score". It is not that way and hasn't been for 18 months.

I thought we were ok yesterday until the ridiculousness of the last 15 minutes. We actually played some through balls, not nearly as many as we should, but more than most games this season. Gundogan was the primary passer and he was better than he has been all season, but still way too slow.

We just stopped trying to score once we made the subs. I think for a team that has conceded 2 goals in every game this season (or at least it seems that way) to bring on a kid and plop him at centre back just seemed foolish and/or naive.

Pressure forces mistakes, and we invited pressure on once we stopped trying to score.

For all the pile on Gvardiol, who looked fine until Ake went off, Ederson was at fault for all 3 goals in someway or another. The lack of communication with Akanji for the first one, letting the ball between leg and post on the 2nd one, and then the 3rd one oh lord.

You have to laugh sometimes or you will cry/smash something (depending on who you are).
Personally I was prepared for a 4-3
defeat once they scored.....

(it never really leaves you you know.....) : - )
