FFP: City amongst 19 clubs on UEFA "watchlist"

It’s that time of the year again…..

Liverpool paid a £1 million settlement to Manchester City after their Premier League rivals made a complaint that their scouting system had been hacked into.
The confidential settlement took place in September 2013 after it was reported that City had employed computer-espionage experts to see if the system had been spied on.
The scandal would appear to be the biggest incident of alleged misbehaviour by one top-flight club to another in the Premier League’s history.
And yet not a peep out of the Premier league, I know we were paid by Liverpool, which is an obvious admission of guilt on their part, but we was told that they were to look into what they did. Nothing happened, just like nothing happened when the bus was bricked or our coaching staff was spat at.

It was worse than that. During the UEFA probe our confidential financial information was being leaked to the media and to our commercial rivals (LFC and MUFC). That's why we stopped co-operating and said we would go straignt to CAS. There is no point engaging with another party acting in bad faith. CAS seemed to agree with us because they massively reduced the original UEFA sanction for "non co-operation."
Still pisses me off that CAS fined us anything for that when it was clear and understandable why we took the stance we did, which, I thought, was exactly the right thing to do.

Both the PL and the FA said nothing to see here, move on. One of them, I forget which, said the case was too old to bother with. Odd then that the PL are investigating Mancini‘s contract almost a decade after he left.
I'm afraid it's just another example of how City must comply totally with all rules that others get away with.

The use of the word "fair" in FFP is an example of how this deliberate selective rule making has been sold.
Most rules are deliberately targeted at City and always will be. It makes our owners business plan achievements shine against them.
They our unable to change because they cannot compete at truly fair level.

It's done and dusted, time to move on. The allegation is that we paid Mancini under the table, the two cases have nothing to do with each other.

The FA have confirmed their investigation into allegations that Liverpool employees 'hacked' into Manchester City’s scouting system has ended.
A report published in The Times in November revealed that, in 2013, the two clubs reached a confidential settlement relating to alleged 'spying' worth £1m.

It was claimed that the compensation amounted to a recognition that Liverpool staff had accessed City’s scouting database without permission.

Sporting director Michael Edwards and two former City employees, Julian Ward and Dave Fallows, were named in the subsequent settlement.

Following the publication of the Times’ report, the FA launched an investigation into whether misconduct rules had been broken.

However, English football’s governing body has now confirmed that the disciplinary process has ended with action being deemed unnecessary.

A spokesperson said: “The FA carefully considered the evidence received in this matter, including information provided by both clubs involved, and has decided not to progress the investigation.

“This is due to a number of factors including the age of the alleged concerns and the settlement agreed by the two clubs involved.

“As per standard protocol, should the FA receive further information or evidence, the decision not to progress the investigation may be reviewed.”

They had to give us a slap on the wrists. They couldn’t publically condone what we did because it would have encouraged other clubs not to co-operate.

I don’t have an issue with being found guilty Bobby, we committed the offence as laid down, but that’s not a slap on the wrists in my book and if anything gave the shithouse section of the media ammunition.

We see it in many courts up and down the land where people etc are found guilty of an offence, but dictate no further punishment is required because of the circumstances that led to it, a simple explanation from CAS of “yes you committed the offence, but we understand what led you to go down that path” would have been enough, who in their right mind would continue to cooperate with a body that was leaking private and important information to its competitors ? for me this was one of those cases.

Totally agree. Over here are fans of many clubs and they all still say we are guilty because of the none compliance ruling. When asked why we were fined i reply “for resisting arrest”.

Wasn't the non-compliance discussed at CAS along with the claim that UEFA committee members (we know thats Parry) were leaking confidential business information from the investigation to the press (We know thats Panja at the NYT) and that an agreement with UEFA that a separate investigation of those admitted leaks would subsequently take place.
What happened to that investigation? We all know what happened - it never took place and the matter was brushed under the carpet because any findings would have shown the complete bias and corruption of their investigation and findings. People ask why we still boo the UEFA anthem.....I give you UEFA - the corrupt bastards.
