When you play online is there a way to get rid of the gigantic name tag over the player you control? it gets in the bastard way half the time

At the moment no, but EA have had alot of people complaining, so maybe they might release a patch and it will be removed.

Played some guy last night online, he was playing as Real Madrid, i was city as always, 20 minutes in and i'm 2-0 up, suprisingly enough he quit's, i get the win i know but i hate quitters, looking at his stats it looks like he quits alot.

There are issues with people who have over 30 'friends' where they randomly sign out of PSN and therefore the EA servers whilst playing FIFA 10, that could be why.

Or he could just be a shit.

That's the one. lol

Can anyone give me a few tips, I've just bought fifa 10 for the xbox, I'm previously a pes man.

Firstly I'm impressed, I did try most of the previous fifas and didnt like them.

Anyway online play 1v1 head to head, I play as city yet everyone else seems to choose barca or united and I'm just getting my arse kicked, does everyone on here play as city?

How do I edit my team in online mode, at the moment I'm having to do it every match, I did try the edit team from the main screen and saved it to a slot but when I pull that slot up from the online menu although its the saved correct formation it doesnt bring up the players I saved?

Im getting pretty pissed off with Fifa now. It was raw, but great at first, but now, things are just grating on me by the day.

Firstly, the game has been released about two months too soon. What sort of QA/Testing procedures they have down there I dont know but there is no evidence it has been through that process. Theres plenty of bugs in Manager mode etc but there are far too many in the gameplay as well. What pisses me off, is theres a patch coming out in a few weeks, but it doesnt touch the gameplay.

BAP:S - The AI on this mode is that bad its unplayable. I've just started a BAP and the intelligence of players around me is ridiculous, I pretty much have to do everything myself and then my pro gets knackered. You cant play a decent game of football because of the AI.

Cant be arsed to list the bugs in Manager Mode. I can handle the modes being buggy but when the gameplay is ridden with bugs its unacceptable. We've paid £40 for it and it is supposed to work. Just playing now, a goalkeeper comes running out of his box and catches the ball. Shooting needs tweaking but potentially is better than 09. The jostling needs tweaking, little maggots push players like Ade off the ball far too easy.

Potentially, it could be the best footy game of all time, but right now, its a buggy mess. I just feel that if greater care was implemented in the testing, it would have been released in November, but it would have been released as the finished product. I dont understand how the testing/dev team could not see the tweaks and bugs that needed sorting.

Until the 2nd/3rd patch, it looks like we'll just have to play online and put up with the gameplay issues.

I've only really played BAP:S, 1 online BAP game (MoTM) and a Lounge mode with a few friends.

The AI is whats putting me off this game, think i mentioned it a few pages back... i've set all my passing onto manual and put my shots back onto fully assisted and helped a little.

Infact reading again you're spot on, the jostling system is complete bollocks, players jostling me whn i dont have the ball and i'm making runs... this is football not NFL!

The system around jostling is bollocks too, i don't know how they work it out but i can hold off three challenges and then next run can get bounced of the ball by Clichy?!

Passing is far too weak, long balls are occasionally sweet, you can really ping the ball forward, but short passing is shit.

Every team plays almost the same, Bolton try to play like Arsneal whilst Kevin Davies is like Hulk. The CPU team play every ball and time every tackle perfectly whilst Adebayor/Tevez et al can't hit the target from literally two yards out.

The ball is white when its snowing.

I loose points when i ask for the ball and the CPU decides not to pass it for me; i get no points for creativity and creating chances and instead loose points for "position".

I'm still enjoying it but the frustration and down right stupidity of the game means im not getting the satisfaction from it i used to.

You know when you play online, does each player have the same controller settings (ie. shooting = manual/semi-manual/automatic etc. ) or can one player play as all manual and the other all automatic?

I just played some guy (chelsea) with City and won with a last minute Tevez goal. It was an even game, I probably deserved to win, but in the rematch he was suddenly pinging the ball about with complete precision and kicked my arse 5-2. Wtf?

Oh and I played someone called something "Man Utd" - he was the rags and he kicked off passed it back to his keeper who then turned round and shot on his own goal somehow missing from 3 yards. After the corner the next time he got the ball he did the same, scored an own goal and then disconnected :/

I've taken on the mammoth task of doing this...

(copied and pasted from a different forum - can't be arsed re-typing it)

Like a good few people on this board i've found that i've not enjoyed my Fifa10 experience, for various reasons. I got so bad that i powered Pes09 up yesterday

Without going into great detail i'll list the main reasons as follows...

The speed of the game (this is the killer for me). It's just far too fast. Passing seems ping pongy and players seem to get up and fown the pitch like it's a basketball court.
The over-eagerness of the computer AI. Take one touch and die mentality basically.
Combined, this meant that basically you have to keep the ball moving, but when the ballmoves at such a pace, the realism flies out of the window, shortly followed by enthusiasm for the game. Add to the equation, the over aggressive nature of the Computer AI and i felt like i'd ended up with a football version of NBA live. It's just attack, get creamed by the AI, defend, glitch, win ball back, get creamed again, win ball back, attack again, glitch, lose ball, win ball, get fouled but no call, glitch, goal etc...

There seemed no incentive for any midfield play. Why bother when you can ping a 40 yard ground pass to the frontman? It felt like i'd be passing the ball around in midfield just to pass a bit of time and to make the game feel more realistic, when in reality the game should be doing both of them for me...

So Here's What I Did

Last year somebody on here came up with the wonderful idea of deducting 20 points from every players Acceleration and Sprint Speed attribute. I didn't think it was really needed on 09, but i could see where the guy was coming from and i want to thank him because without this idea Fifa would have been a makeweight in a potential deal for Pes10. So yeah that's basically what i did. Every player for City and United had their Acceleration and sprint speed reduced by 20 (for each stat)

The Set Up

Manchester City - Manchester United
10 min halves
world class
slow
dry

The Game

Absolutely wonderful. The pitch seems so much bigger and the game feels so much slower. Players can take a touch on the ball without getting wiped out. The AI can't take advantage of the defensive glitches because their striker doesn't bare down on goal as quickly. It's just brilliant. The ball doesn't ping pong around anymore. Player collisions are better as less momentum (from the reduced speed) results in fairer collision outcomes.

To add balance i started a new game this time with unedited teams. I chose Arsenal and Liverpool. I played with the same conditions as with the previous game. I scored early on, but lost interest about 2 or 3 minutes into the game. The passing and player movement was so fast it was unplayable. I put a nice passing move together and finished it off brilliantly but it felt like it was scripted and what should have been a 'wow' moment, turned into a 'meh' moment. I stuck it out for a while, but i found it very hard to care about what was happening because what i was playing resembled a sport that was unfamilar to me.

So back to City and United using the edited speed and acceleration stats, and all i can say is 'wow'. Adebayor plays like Adebayor when the game is that bit slower, Ireland has time to pick a pass, Robinho's skill moves are slightly effective, De Jong doesn't stray from his position too much (because he doesn't have the speed). It just feels right again.

The only problem is, i'm going to have to put the effort into editing practically every team. For those that are interested it takes about 10 minutes to edit each team. Without guessing the total amount of teams in the game, i think it's fairly obvious i'm in for a good few days of editing. I can honestly say it's worth it.

For those that are close to trading it in, i urge you to give it a go. Just do it with 2 teams so it only take 20 minutes. Then sit back and enjoy the game in the way it is supposed to be played.

Thanks once again to whoever it was who came up with this idea for 09. Absolute star. Cheers.

END RESULT

Brilliant game. Seems to fix most glitches and problems relating to pace/speed of game, AI aggression etc...
