I've played a few games and am yet to swear at the game, only myself for over/under hit balls.

Didn't think this was possible, even holding the L2 modifier, my passes go directly to feet like a magnet. Horrible.

PES is back baby! Excellent demo, I'll definitely be buying PES again for the first time
in 3 years :)

I've not tried FIFA yet but I'll probably end up getting both cos my mates are FIFA fanboys and I like playing online but FIFA will have to up it's game to be on a par imo.

I was expecting PES to be just another overhyped arcade game, but it's jsut so much better this year :D

I found it really one dimensional still, still very arcadey and less time getting use to, to improve than Fifa.

The gameplay seemed very one paced and the graphics in game were much more fuzzy than fifa.

I'll give it another go when i get in, but right now its FIFA for me this year. Online clubs alone will be worth it.
You need to give it more time mate, especially if you're used to Fifa. Same with anyone going from PES to Fifa.

Personally, i think PES 11 is brilliant, but i could put up with PES10 so there ya go :p

I bought PES every year up until PES 2010 so I'm used to PES. I played the PES 2011 demo expecting a really special and futuristic football simulation. What I found was: poor player movement, weak passing, rubbish default camera angles, Messi moving like a stickman on stop-motion filming and poor commentary. Shooting from anywhere outside the box means an automatic miss, and there are only two teams to explore.

I always diregarded FIFA because I thought FIFA 06 was rubbish. But while playing FIFA 10 on my mate's PS3, I thought: this isn't half bad. I now love FIFA and I can't believe I was so foolish - not buying it for all those years. Now, the demo. If they didn't have the different penalty style on this game, it'd be the perfect demo. They've finally recognised that the passing was like a pinball machine and they've also grasped that Messi isn't a lightweight. I love the new shooting style - where it dips after about 20 yards. The commentary is still a wankfest between Tyler and Gray, but it's streets ahead of PES. I also enjoyed the new 'Be A Keeper' in the arena. It even has 'Rhinestone Eyes - Gorillaz' on, which is one of my favourite songs of 2010!

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 - 2/10: The worst football game I've ever played, no redeeming factors other than: it's football. PES 2012 needs to be 10000% better than this, or else PES will be behind FIFA for ever more.

FIFA 11 - 8/10. If they didn't have that penalty style then it would be the perfect football game. I can't wait to unleash City on the Premier League with the new and improved build-up play.

firstly, PES doesnt have stupid automatic passing like FIFA, you need to weight your passes like you do with your shots.

player movement is much better than FIFA. In real football cou cant run from one side of the pitch to the other in 5 seconds. PES realises this and slows the gameplay down so you use clever intricate passing to break up defences instead of unrealistic pace.

camera angles arnet rubbish they just need getting used to.

there is no commentary in this demo cos they havnt sorted it all out yet, there will be in the real game

ive shot from miles outside the box and hit the target many, many times

there are 4. bayern munich, barca, and 2 south america teams. to show you how different quality sides affect the performance.

play it a bit more. you'll find it is a much more rewarding game and that (IMO) FIFA will get boring within a month

PES 11: 8.5/10

fifa 11: 6/10

The fanboys are resorting to making stuff up now just to make the game they like sound better? Mate, PES demo doesn't even have commentary.

Llmarkham; you're blinded by our own fanboyism mate.

Ono, i gave it another go today, i'm a FIFA convertee, it was PES without question for me until 2006 and next gen consoles.

It's still way behind FIFA for me this year, if the demo's are anything to go by.

What FIFA have done really well this year, is make it feel like each player on the ball is different... the touches, dribbling, passing... its so differnet lumbering round with John Terry than it is gliding round with Iniesta.

I think they've made the controls on FIFA much more manual, the pass metre shows, as you execute your pass what the 'perfect' power should have been, plus the direction you hold bears much more significance to where the ball ends up than in 10.

I'll always thank PES for kick starting this war that has lead to where we are now, with much higher standard football games, but i can't see PES being much competition for FIFA anytime soon, it's been on a differnet level for a few years now.

-- Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:48 pm --

The PES demo doesn't, though, when I'd imagined that it did. I heard John Champion's voice in my head, and everything!

I plumped for fifa last year as 2010 wasnt up to scratch. this year however PES is a step ahead. feels like they have cut it back to basics and started again. Reminds me of the pro evo's of old and i love it.

Fifa is a good game, presentation is good, licesnses are great, but its all about gamplay for me and the new pro evo is quality.
