Yes you can. Fifa 13 had an option to update in the career menu, I haven't played 14, but i imagine this will be the same.

Cheers dude, I have managed to sort it.
I was able to download the updated squads ok. I found the option on settings which needed changing from 'default squads' to 'download latest squads'.
All sorted now!

When you start up your career mode and you go through the stages before it starts. There's an option that I believe has the tag Default Squads. I think another was current customised, you need to switch it to the 3rd option which is download latest. They'll all be up to date then.
