FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Knockout Stage

For European team's, its the 4 winners of the CL plus teams with the best coefficient in CL.
2 teams max from the same country but this may change if they want to increase numbers.
PSG have qualified for next tournament and we are currently behind arsenal, Liverpool and Villa in the rankings.

Note: The 4-year ranking determines which UEFA clubs qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup. The ranking is based on coefficient points from UCL only
It shows how tough it is to qualify for.

What a load of bollocks, you do realise they now have time on their hands to change the rules to shoehorn the rags into the competition, just think about all that history.
All about the ££££ so expect Barcelona , Liverpool, United to be shoehorned in a bit like Messi and Inter Miami we’re dubiously parachuted in .

I. find this threads final few pages weird.

Chelseas won so now they are great?
Chelseas transfer stratergy the last few seasons was actually a master stroke?
PSG are frauds ?

knock out football is not and never will be a measure of whether a team is the best, winning leagues are.

PSG, may well have had a game too far and this tournamnet may takes it's toll on their early season. as some feared, only time will tell.

Congratulations to chelsea, well done, but some reactions here have been well OTT

Remember a few months ago when lots of our fans were ridiculing Chelsea and their transfers?

Don't hear those same folks chirping now.
I fancy them for the title but let us not get overboard. El-Hadj Diouf had wonerful summer once against world stars.

The PSG players have played lots of matches in the last 12 months. Chelsea have been able to rest their player in Europe.

Chelsea not challenging earlier is rather pathetic considering how much they spent.

Agree.

And... the bookies don't think that PSG are frauds:

Yep, just shows you that anything can happen in 90 minutes as we've unfortunately found out time and again. I still think PSG are the best team out there currently, nice to see them get brought down a peg though :)

If anything, the way they have performed in the last 6 months or so is a nice example for us of where we need to be to (seriously) compete for that Champions League again.

What? OTT reactions on bluemoon?
You don't say. :)

I agree. I think that PSG has the best squad in world football.

That said - PSG has some weaknesses to shore up - a long ball over the right may well prove useful - Nuno Mendes is, IMO, the best left back in the world, but he screwed up at least twice leading to Chelsea's goals.

Palmer, OTOH, was spectacular. He won't always perform this well - but he had 3 amazingly good shots on goal in the first half - 2 of which resulted in goals - and he assisted for Chelsea's 3rd goal.

PSG could have done better - but Palmer's performance was abnormally awesome - no way to stop that.

IMO PSG are still the best side in world football - whereas Chelsea are going to be very difficult to score against and carry a threat going forward. I think that Chelsea finishes in the top 4 in the P/L, probably 4th; but they might well win the league.

I am not getting overboard. Rhe claim was that they were clueless in their dealings. Didnt particular look that way to me. What we mostly saw was them taking an area of their squad and then overloading it with young talent and seeing which ones rise to the challenge. Then discard the rest.

They did it with AM, then CM, then CDs, then Wingers, and now strikers. They've pretty much youthi-nize their whole squad. They are now down to keeper as the last position left to youth-inize.

None of it seemed haphazard like most claimed. Its seemed like a deliberate attempt to win the future. Which in retrospect was the smart move. There was no point trying to compete with the present Man City 3-4 years ago. The trick is to plan for the Man City 4 years down the road when their dominant old guard are transitioning out.

By the way, Viana is doing something similar also with us. Starting with CBs ( Khusa, Bah and Reis) Savio, Doku, and Cherki at AM and interests in Tino, Wesley and Martin at RB. The emphasis is similar.

They may or may not succeed ( i don't think they will this year) but it was the right plan). They are in a far better place than United for staying the youth course.

Enrique may have shot his bolt coming here in a couple of years time.

Honestly didnt watch a minute once we were knocked out, so I can see the pointless shouts from fans with no interest in it. It might get bigger in the future but at the moment, without the money its pointless.
It will get bigger in future. Its pretty much Champions league for the World rather than just Europe. And it's every 4 years.

I can see it getting very big

FIFA will make sure of it.

I have no issues with it and think the organisation will improve as it goes along.

The venue for the next one may decide it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the PL agree to let their representatives start the season a couple of weeks later because the representatives play in red.

I think they should play it in cooler climates. Australia, New Zealand, South Africa etc. Places that are not so hot in the summer.

Its a smart idea. Seeing some of the best players from all over the world in their favorite habitat ( their clubs) is a good way to watch international football.

I quite enjoyed thd tournament. Especially watching Europe against the S. Americans, Africans., and Asian teams. The styles of football are actually different and unique.

I'm not convinced Chelsea will be difficult to score against - they are missing a top class centre half IMHO. I think PSG looked knackered, Chelsea started well, took their chances and the rest is history.

It's not like Chelsea bulldozed their way to the final - they lost a game and there was jeopardy in several of the others.

I think the PL title race will be exciting but Top 4 battle will be boring in so far as barring a major surprise Top 4 will be Dippers, Arsenal, City and Chelsea. Reinforced by the fact those 4 teams are the ones investing the most into their squads.

Can't argue with most of that.

It wouldn't surprise me though if Chelsea finished above 4th.
