FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Knockout Stage

To be fair, Inter must be knackered/shellshocked, after a season where they were close to a treble, but ended up with nothing.

It's clearly making a difference that the Brazilian clubs are mid season, compared to the December CWC when they're coming off the end of a tough season.
40 yr CBs & 44 yr old GKs are a bit unusual in the PL tbf.

Forgot this was on, I fancied fluminese sl glad to see them go through as I'd like the potential to play against more non-european competition. however I think us playing inter would have been easier, they're too old to cope with our new energy. The draw has been kind to us, up to us to take full advantage now. Anything less than a final appearance now will be a disappointment.

True - but then Milner will be 40 next year, and it's not like Inter are a bunch of kids. The time of year, the heat, and playing a team from Serie A probably all helps.

City seem to be coping really well fitness wise, and I think we'll put them under a hell of a lot more pressure if we get through.

Inter Milan should not be losing to Fluminense at any stage of this World Club Tournament.
Fluminense is a good team, but an ageing squad and are levels behind the best European teams fitness-wise

Milan just did not fancy it until the last 10 minutes, but it was too little, too late and luck and sucker punch goal and home you go

There's a bit too much tempting fate on here right now. I'm old school, let's just try and win the next game and go from there. The heat and sub -par pitches over there could be a bit of a leveller and after the season we've just had and all the new signings bedding in we need to be realistic.

Sorry to be a bit of a downer lol.

I'm with you. Very bullish on here. We could get a nasty shock.
I think people need to bear in mind that this current City team is still in the process of becoming itself. I'm convinced that six months up the road it'll be considerably more gelled, and a year up the road, it'll be coming to something like its full potential.
If we're knocked out before the final, I'll be a bit annoyed, but not in fact that surprised. This will have been above all a chance for the squad to get to know each other, both as footballers and as people, in fairly relaxed circumstances by Pep standards. What is vitally important for me is that the lads get a rest, a proper one, and that we then hit the ground running in August (and that we smash the rags in the process, because I'm still thoroughly pissed off about that shit show at the Etihad last December against a crap United team).

Match Recording set. Notifications off. Alarm set for half six. Watch it with a cup of tea, breakfast and liberal use of the fast forward button. It’s good night from me.

Said it 2 weeks ago this will be 4 great games better than friendlies to bed the new signings in and integrate them as people as well as players into our club and so it has proved
Sadly it also highlighted we need to be ruthless in offloading pjayers who simply ain’t good enough or are past it I fear Pep won’t be doing this
Surely you don’t start games with Gundogen and Silva if your building for the future and I have serious reservations now about Edison
