FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Knockout Stage

Nice to watch a game as a neutral and see the game rather than feeling the emotion. Paris thought they would walk in to this and away with the game. Chelsea forced their hand and even though they had chances, they had no real comeback.

Interesting to see Paris’ discipline falling apart when under pressure, and Chelsea taking advantage of it.

Well played Chelsea, the only game I’ve seen of them in this, and they thoroughly deserved it.
Yes, PSG have only been at the top of the tree for a couple of months. Maybe they have been reading too many headlines thinking they are unbeatable. Certainly the way most journalists have been fawning over their displays you would have been forgiven to believe they are. Last night’s ill discipline exposed they don’t like it when you get the better of them.
I hope FIFA look properly at the shenanigans at the end of the match and Enrique gets his comeuppance. He hit out at Pedro.

I am not getting overboard. Rhe claim was that they were clueless in their dealings. Didnt particular look that way to me. What we mostly saw was them taking an area of their squad and then overloading it with young talent and seeing which ones rise to the challenge. Then discard the rest.

They did it with AM, then CM, then CDs, then Wingers, and now strikers. They've pretty much youthi-nize their whole squad. They are now down to keeper as the last position left to youth-inize.

None of it seemed haphazard like most claimed. Its seemed like a deliberate attempt to win the future. Which in retrospect was the smart move. There was no point trying to compete with the present Man City 3-4 years ago. The trick is to plan for the Man City 4 years down the road when their dominant old guard are transitioning out.

By the way, Viana is doing something similar also with us. Starting with CBs ( Khusa, Bah and Reis) Savio, Doku, and Cherki at AM and interests in Tino, Wesley and Martin at RB. The emphasis is similar.

They may or may not succeed ( i don't think they will this year) but it was the right plan). They are in a far better place than United for staying the youth course.
Fair points then I misunderstood you.

They spent an awful lot and eventually they will get it right regardless of their overload issues.

I agree with going youth I just hope Pep starts trusting it to a larger extent. Our youth teams are the best in the country, we have some of the best young players in the squad.

I never thought I'd see Infantino stand next to an even bigger twat than himself but credit where credit is due in Trump he found one.

I think PSG thought they only had to turn up to win and before they got their heads right the game was beyond them. Chelsea could be a threat next season.

PSG didn't work anything like as hard as previous games, like you say, i think they thought they only had to turn up to win.

I. find this threads final few pages weird.

Chelseas won so now they are great?
Chelseas transfer stratergy the last few seasons was actually a master stroke?
PSG are frauds ?

knock out football is not and never will be a measure of whether a team is the best, winning leagues are.

PSG, may well have had a game too far and this tournamnet may takes it's toll on their early season. as some feared, only time will tell.

Congratulations to chelsea, well done, but some reactions here have been well OTT

Reminds me when City beat Juve 5-2. Next day, the BBC Sports football website main article was headlined "Are City back?". A few days later we lose to Al Hilal, and a big article on the same website describing how the problems from last season haven't been solved and we still haven't really moved on yet from last season. It's mental how fickle football is.

Never watched a minute of it until we started qualifying/selected.

If we dont make the next one I won't be watching another minute either.

It's a glammed up pre season tournament. Yes, it would be great to win it,.only for the mega bucks it generates.

If the winner only got 10 million, clubs wouldn't be interested.

Heard a guy on the radio earlier saying Trump should've been told about John Terry so he could have gone FKW - I doubt there is a kit thats manufactured that is big enough for him though
