Distance between cities? Isn't that the same for Australia? Distance from Bribane to Perth or Melbourne is HUGE. Anyways there's not much you can do about this. The only problem with Russia is the racism/violence issues. But honestly, many countries in the past got awarded Euro/World cup that at the time had many of these issues. Euro 1996 and WC 1990 comes to mind.WRONG,wrong wrong..... England & Australia were the best options. england is ready to host in an instant, the only nations that could do that would be fra,ita,ger,US and spain.
russia is a bad choice as the distance between cities is huge, travel expenses for fans is ridiculous. Russian fans have a notorious racist attitude in both domestic and international home games. Although I think russia would deserve to host it ,after spain ( IMO) , as a european nation in twenty years.
I dont know why he mentioned a terrorist attack either?????

The bombing in Manchester had nothing to do with football, why bring it up? If Chechens or Ukranians decided to bomb a Russian city in 2018, would it be about football??

euro 96 wasn t that bad..... the FA should officiate to break up hooligan gatherings with police forces and make passports void for previous offenders.
Italia 90 .... was great........... all i remember were the Scots kissing the Swedes and smiling of how great football was..... then that Nastard Scilacci tea-bagged a nation!

The racism issue, given that UEFA have punished your own club, should have been enough to stop you getting the world cup or at least a factor against it. In pure football terms, I've no problem with Russia having a World Cup at all. But politically, now is not the time.

You should be careful when mentioning the IRA bombing of Manchester in 96, it had nothing to do with football, there wasnt a match on, it was no where near a stadium and a lot of people on this board were effected directly. It was a political act not a football violence act. If you think it is significant, it is nothing compared to the issues that are ongoing on the Ukraine/Russia border.
You are wrong about the hooligan element, football violence was minimal in 96 compared to previous years, you may have been fed some propaganda and have believed it. Those of us who remember the 70's and 80's know that all seater stadiums and progressive policing meant that any issues were small and isolated, in comparison to previous years. As fans who have been through disgraceful behaviour, witnessed it first hand and seen how our police and football authorities have worked to clean up our game, we are in a good place to sit and say what needs to be done. It isnt hypocritical, its being able to use our knowledge and experience to be better judges.
