Similar to the men's team not really played anyone yet, media in over drive and if it goes tits up it'll be blamed on one of the 95% of the city/ex-city ladies.
Did they point out that English teams can't match Lyon's salaries because of our own governing bodies stupidity ?The commentators over here were saying how great it is that Lyon have put so much money into their women's team (to buy the best players and pay the highest salaries, presumably) so that they now dominate the women's game in Europe. It's nice that the media are so consistent in how they view this type of investment in a team...
Not sure you can say that about Norway to be fair, credit our girls they largely played very well, in a good game. They might still be a little over hyped, but they're in the last four deservedly.Similar to the men's team not really played anyone yet
Fair point Norway aren't crap but below us in the rankings. Not sure you can say that about Norway to be fair, credit our girls they largely played very well, in a good game. They might still be a little over hyped, but they're in the last four deservedly.
I think the rankings are probably a bit skewed by the "she believes cup" win, which didn't include Norway, we are probably better, but the margin last night was greater than many expected. I thought we were more adventurous than Norway, and in the end it paid off.Fair point Norway aren't crap but below us in the rankings.
They did not. Do we have a salary cap?Did they point out that English teams can't match Lyon's salaries because of our own governing bodies stupidity ?
I also find it funny how they know about all the players leaving us ,ie Nikita Parris , Abbie McManus, Jen Beattie and Claire Emslie, yet don't seem to know that Ellen White as signed for us , not once have I heard it mention in any of the commentary !The ones who fucked off to Lyon are getting more accolades than those who've stayed in Beswick!!
In one case, praising oney for developping the game. In another case, blaming money for ruining the game. The commentators over here were saying how great it is that Lyon have put so much money into their women's team (to buy the best players and pay the highest salaries, presumably) so that they now dominate the women's game in Europe. We do indeed, unlike France, Spain and Germany. They did not. Do we have a salary cap?
