This tournament has been overrun by VAR and some iffy penalty decisions.... is this how all future tournaments are going to be.

and leagues - those who thought VAR was to be our salvation are about to get something they wished for......sadly. It doesn't bring correct decisions it brings correct decisions in the eyes of the VAR officials and that is something open to wide interpretation.

Never a penalty. As I called after the Schalke first leg, players will now just be smashing balls deliberately at hands for penalties. Rule needs changing urgently before it becomes a farce.

For a 150 fuckin' years it was never a penalty, but along comes FICKFUFA and Uefa-operated VAR and we can see that they are penalties, just as we change the LotG to accommodate the technology. The game is now laughable. Just smash a ball hard enough and any player who can't get out of the way quick enough gets a yellow card and concedes a penalty. Are we gonna see, using FICKFUFA logic, that in a couple of seasons any player deliberately kicking the ball into touch and standing inside the penalty area will get booked and give away a penalty. it's now getting absolutely ridiculous. I shudder to think WTF we are gonna see next season.

These new rules plus VAR are going going to turn a lot of people away from football. The handball law really needs to be changed.

Absolutely nothing to do with VAR. the ref gave the penalty and VAR simply confirmed the ball it the hand. it’s the rule itself that’s the issue.

On this occasion, correct, and that's the "new" law, but that law has happened because of VAR itself. The tail wagging the dog.....
