FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

Perhaps James should spend more time in understand the rules of football and less time making adverts !
Apparently she has apologised to the lass she stood on, but what makes me laugh is the same kinds of comments we've been getting that used to be applied to a variety of thugs in the men's game when it was often suggested 'They're not like that!' after the perpetrator has kicked, thumped, nutted, scraped, blocked, hacked!

Shame for Bunny, would have been good to see her face off against our girls.
I think I'd sooner see the Caicedo v Bronze tussle. Real v Barca! Gonna have a bit of an edge before we get going, and Lucy was very fortunate not to concede a pen in the last game. Had the VAR wallahs not been bingeing a Netflix series instead of following the action she might have done for the toothless Lionesses.

This is an honest question. Did she apologise like on camera apologize or was a statement posted online and sent to news outlets.

I ask because a singer and actor named Ne-Yo made some comments that offended the trans community (the comments aren't the important part). "He" put out this mea culpa apology statement. Except, he didn't.

Ne-Yo wasn't not asking for forgiveness, aside from hurting people's feelings. His publicist or record company publicist put out the statement without his knowledge. He stands by what he said.

I am curious as to who really apologised, the FA, her? Of course, she likely is sorry but the story I have relayed unfortunately causes me to call into question celebrity apologies.

It was social media apology...

Ok. Thank you. Can't speak for her but I know at least one woman on the team has someone who at times does her Twitter messages for her.

In any case, it doesn't matter what I think. Alozie has accepted her apology. My neice is on her club team. By everything I've been told, and seen Alozie is a class act. If she's good with it that's the end.

I suspect that the ‘management/back room staff made the suggestion and I think it was James to the girl via some social media platform!

Agreed. It was totally unnecessary, stupid and avoidable, but it did still surprise me a little that it went from being a yellow to a red for "violent conduct". She trod on her (on purpose), but there was no additional force. I reckon it'll end up being just a one match ban.

They saw it was a malicious, intended/ premeditated action (she thought about where she was placing her foot as she looked down) so, therefore, 'violent'.

What else can you call it?? Correct call.

Lauren James' ban has been confirmed now as 2 games, so I guess that classes it somewhere below 'violent' but above a normal red card offence.

Feels ok to me, but also feels like they make it up as they go along...
