FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

Testosterone is a powerful drug. The women's game will never be played with the pace and power of the men's game.

But everywhere there's a consistent commitment to funding, opportunities to play throughout the age groups and a societal acceptance of women and girls playing football, talent is found and nurtured.

I don't care that a men's team would beat a women's team. Biology bestows such an advantage that in most sports, promising teenage boys will regularly beat adult women's world records. That doesn't make those records any less of an achievement for the women who set them.

I care about the development of the women's game to be the best it can be, which means opportunities for girls to play recreationally and in academies, routes to professional careers for the best players, thriving domestic leagues and properly competitive international tournaments.

We're getting there but there's still a way to go.

These Aus/NZ time zones are killing this tournament for me though, I can only really watch weekend games with these morning kick-offs.

Those who've been able to watch a lot of games, who's impressed the most so far?

Agree 100%.

In terms of the tournament, hard to say totally when some have only played 1 game, but...

USA & Germany - easy matches, but obviously going to go far.
Spain played well but were wasteful.
Brazil were excellent first game - good flair and teamwork, but not the toughest test.
Japan have had two games and been excellent in both. Could be outsiders.

No one is forcing you to watch it . Why would you care
Because other stuff I'd like to watch has been moved.
It's like the tennis. 2 BBC channels flooded for 2 weeks.

And because I like football.

I'm glad that the women's game is getting more professional and more young girls are getting into it but let's not get carried away, it's quite shit football wise. Especially in the WC. 16 good teams and 16 shit teams. They've gone big too early. The standard of the world's game is not great.

Well good for you. Nice to see sarcasm, even if it is poor, on Bluemoon.

It's just truth mate. Some games are shit. It happens.

If everyone knew which ones would be shit beforehand it'd be a lot easier for all of us.

So what TV programs are you so disappointed that were moved? Most of the matches are early, so I didn't think there'd be much disruption?
