That's the one, it was well off it's flight path and they had plenty of warning.

Yeah, as I said it's just an idea, but I don't think it'd be too easy to get at 2/3 lads the wrong side of a narrow doorway with loaded weapons, although it would make an uplifting story for a pretty shellshocked nation. USA have shown us they're not averse to massive lies with the WMD debacle in Iraq as well.

Who would make the final decision to blow up a plane with hundreds of civilians on it?

Has it ever happened?

Yes. The Russians shot down a Korean jet just for the suspicion it was spying! So far in this scenario it hasn't happened but I'm quite sure if it came to it, it would. Without doubt in the US or Israel and probably in the UK. If it didn't the first time it would the second.

So how is this decision actually made?

The fighter jet was circling the plane but what is it looking for before it makes the decision?

Must be hard to base a decision like that on what a pilot has said, especially at about 400mph!!!

I mean how would the fighter jet know if it was a legitimate bomb threat or a hoax?

The fast jet is a tool. Command and control is done elsewhere.

He will get time, lose his job, never be allowed to fly again what a bellend
Will he get billed for all this as well?

I hope he has to pay every last penny for everything that has gone on. Must have cost a fair few quid.

Well you get billed for hoax calls to the emergency services, so it's just a question of scale after that.
