Star Wars is kewl now? I thought Star Wars was generally considered geeky. Harry Potter would fall under the same category though to a lesser extent.

Schindler's List would be my nomination.

Star Wars are frequently held up as the films that saved cinema.

Cinema was dying in the 70's, audiences were down hugely, and the Star Wars films supposedly resurrected them.

They are considerted "arty" by various critics ("futuristic westerns").

The double header of 'Scum' and 'Quadrophenia' at the temple pictures on Cheetham Hill Rd saved cinema in the late 70's.
The place was rammed out when these 2 were on.

I went to see Quadrophenia at the Temple in 1979 with my then girlfriend, who has now been my wife for 30 years.
"We are the Mods,We are the Mods,We are the Mods."
(And I'm talking proper Mods - not internet geeks like Shadygiz and De Niro etc.)

The Godfather - I fast forwarded to the interesting parts as it bored me that much, not seen it for a few years now though, so that might have changed.

Avatar - A big pile of blue shit.

Pan's Labyrinth - Shit, slow and not remotely gripping.

The Hangover 3 - Will there be a need for it? No, so I'll say it now.
