Films that were acclaimed that are actually rubbish

I’m glad American Beauty was mentioned. I saw it years ago and didn’t see what all the fuss was about

Dont say that, im going to watch it tonight, im keeping off the thread in case someone tells me how it ends.
 
I think for the gap between acclaim & actual substance it has to Shawshank redemption, decent film but many claim it’s the best film ever made ....sneek into a top 50 maybe
